The challenge of synergistically optimizing different mechanisms limits the further improvement of plasmon-mediated photocatalytic activities. In this work, an Au/BiOBr composite, combining an interface ohmic contact and localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), is prepared by a thermal reduction method. The LSPR effect induces the local resonance energy transfer effect and the local electric field enhancement effect, while the interface ohmic contact forms a stronger interface electric field. The novel synergistic interaction between the interface ohmic contact and LSPR drives effective charge separation and provides more active sites for the adsorption and activation of CO with improved photocatalytic efficiency. The optimized 0.6 wt% Au (5.7 nm) over BiOBr nanosheets showed an apparently improved photocatalytic activity without any sacrificial reagents, specifically CO and O yields of 44.92 and 17.83 μmol g h, and demonstrated superior stability (only lost 6%) after continuous reaction for 48 h, nearly 5-fold enhanced compared to BiOBr and a great advantage compared with other bismuth-based photocatalysts.

This study theoretically investigates the defect-related electronic structure and transport properties in a device where a semiconductor bilayer SnS (BL-SnS) serves as the central scattering region and bilayer SnS with cobalt atom intercalation (Co-SnS) as the metallic electrodes. The Co-SnS/BL-SnS junction forms an ohmic contact, which is robust to defects. Low contact resistances of 52.

Van der Waals electrode integration is a promising strategy to create nearly perfect interfaces between metals and 2D materials, with advantages such as eliminating Fermi-level pinning and reducing contact resistance. However, the lack of a simple, generalizable pick-and-place transfer technology has greatly hampered the wide use of this technique. We demonstrate the pick-and-place transfer of prefabricated electrodes from reusable polished hydrogenated diamond substrates without the use of any sacrificial layers due to the inherent low-energy and dangling-bond-free nature of the hydrogenated diamond surface.

The discovery of ferroelectric phases in HfO-based films has reignited interest in ferroelectrics and their application in resistive switching (RS) devices. This study investigates the pivotal role of electrodes in facilitating the Schottky-to-Ohmic transition (SOT) observed in devices consisting of ultrathin epitaxial ferroelectric HfYO (YHO) films deposited on LaSrMnO-buffered Nb-doped SrTiO (NbSTO|LSMO) with Ti|Au top electrodes. These findings indicate combined filamentary RS and ferroelectric switching occurs in devices with designed electrodes, having an ON/OFF ratio of over 100 during about 10 cycles.

In processes such as electrodialysis, the applied electrical potential is constrained by concentration polarization at the membrane/solution interface. This polarization, which intensifies at higher current densities, impedes ion transport efficiency and may lead to problems such as salt precipitation, membrane degradation, and increased energy consumption. Therefore, understanding concentration polarization is essential for enhancing membrane performance, improving efficiency, and reducing operational costs.

Power generation and architectural beauty are equally important for designing efficient and esthetically appealing bifacial perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this work, efficient and multicolored p-i-n-structured PSCs are achieved by taking advantage of a dielectric/metal/dielectric (DMD)-type (MoO/Ni/Ag/MoO) transparent counter electrode. The MoO/Ni underlayer effectively promotes the formation of a continuous and conductive ultrathin Ag transparent film, especially the 1 nm Ni seed layer adjusts the interface energy level between perovskite/MoO and Ag, resulting in Ohmic contact of the electrode to promote charge extraction and collection.
