Background: To explore the changes of cytokines expression in aqueous humor (AH) of eyes of patients with congenital cataract (CC) who underwent delayed sequential bilateral cataract surgery (DSBCS).
Methods: 28 patients with CC underwent DSBCS. AH samples were collected from each eye before surgery. The contents of cytokines in AH were detected by Luminex xMAP Technology.
Results: There was no significant difference in the expression of IL-8, IP-10, MCP-1 and PDGFAA in the AH of the first and second eyes (P = 0.35, 0.39, 0.17, respectively). The level of IL-8 in the first-eye AH was negatively correlated with age (ρ=- 0.519, P = 0.008). IP-10 and MCP-1 in the second-eye AH were negatively correlated with age (ρ=- 0.483, P = 0.009; ρ=- 0.445, P = 0.018,respectively).
Conclusion: The first-eye surgery in patients with CC may not cause the change of cytokines in the contralateral eye. The expression of IL-8, IP-10 and MCP-1 in the AH was negatively correlated with the age of patients.
Trial Registration: The study was registered at www.chictr.org.cn on March 22, 2022 and the clinical trial number is ChiCTR2200057927.

Limited knowledge exists regarding biomarkers that predict treatment response in Lupus nephritis (LN). We aimed to identify potential molecular biomarkers to predict treatment response in patients with LN. We enrolled 66 patients with active LN who underwent renal biopsy upon enrollment.

Purpose: To report cytokine/chemokine profiles of ocular fluid in two patients with herpetic uveitis.
Methods: Cytokine and chemokine profiling of ocular fluid was performed in two patients with herpetic uveitis. Ocular fluid findings were correlated with disease manifestations and the patients' clinical course.

Chikungunya virus infection (CHIKV) increases the risk of persistent arthralgia; however, there is no consistent evidence regarding prognostic biomarkers of progression to chronic arthropathy. This systematic review provides an overview of currently available literature about the potential role of the acute immunologic response in predicting long-term joint pain in patients with a diagnosis of CHIKV. We searched for observational studies using the terms "chikungunya," "cytokines," "biomarkers," and "joint pain" in PubMed/MEDLINE, LILACS, Cochrane Library Plus, and SCOPUS databases, restricting to articles published in English and up to April 2024.

Severe clinical manifestations of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) are associated with the dysregulation of immune response following SARS-CoV-2 infection. Therefore, we analyzed the levels of 10 selected cytokines at admission to estimate disease severity and to predict the length of hospitalization. In remission samples, these mediators were followed after intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatment before discharge.

Background: Cytokines and chemokines as crucial participants in innate immune response play significant roles during SARS-CoV-2 infection, yet excessive immune response exacerbates the severity of COVID-19.
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the involvement of which cytokines/chemokines in the cytokine storm of COVID-19, as well as the changes in cytokine/chemokine levels during the course of COVID-19, simultaneously exploring the diagnostic and prognostic value of the relevant cytokines/chemokines for COVID-19.
Methods: Flow cytometry was employed to detect the levels of cytokines and chemokines in the serum of 50 COVID-19 patients.
