Thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms are more common in men. Yet, females often have worse outcomes, fewer interventions, and lower treatment rates. Females have also benefited less from the research and treatment of those diseases than men. Understanding sex- and sex-specific differences in thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms can improve care delivery, reduce disparities, and optimize outcomes for females with thoracic aortic aneurysms and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms. The authors reviewed the literature on the presentation and outcomes of thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms in females, discussing the existing gaps and future directions to address them.

NADPH oxidase 1 (Nox1) is a major isoform of Nox in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). VSMC activation and extracellular matrix (ECM) remodelling induce abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). In this study, we aim to determine the role of Nox1 in the progression of AAA and explore the underling mechanism.
Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a chronic inflammation-driven disease characterized by aortic wall destruction and expansion, leading to high morbidity and mortality. However, previous drug treatments for its common risk factors have not achieved favorable results, and the early prevention and treatment is still the main clinical dilemma. Anti-inflammation therapy is a promising therapeutical method targeting its pathogenesis mechanism, but it has not been explored in depth.
Survival into adulthood in patients with an interrupted aortic arch (IAA) is exceedingly rare. A recent literature review found 25 reported cases of IAA in adults. We describe the first case of prolonged, occult, postoperative gastrointestinal bleeding as a major complication following IAA surgery.
Introduction: The adverse health effects of sugar-sweetened beverage intake are well-established, but the implications of overall added sugar intake remain unclear.
