Although human metapneumovirus(hMPV) infection can induce severe symptoms in older adults or immunocompromised patients, it usually causes mild symptoms in young immunocompetent adults. The prevalence of hMPV infectious disease is highest during the late winter and early summer. We report a hypoxemic case of hMPV infection in a young immunocompetent man that occurred in the first autumn after the reclassification of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from Class 2 to Class 5.

Background: This study aimed to describe the epidemiological trends of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infection among children with acute respiratory tract infections (ARTIs) before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, and evaluating the impact of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) on the epidemiology of MP infection.
Methods: Children with ARTIs admitted to the Children's Hospital of Soochow University (SCH) from January 2010 to December 2023 and underwent MP nucleic acid PCR assay were included. Clinical data on age, sex, onset time and detection result were collected and analyzed.
Background The role of specific human leukocyte antigen (HLA) alleles as a risk factor for susceptibility, protection, and response to cyclophosphamide (CYC) treatment has been studied in patients with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (INS). This study investigates the association of class II HLA alleles and the treatment outcome in children with steroid-dependent nephrotic syndrome (SDNS) who were treated with CYC. Methods A total of 77 children who were diagnosed with SDNS and had received CYC at least a year before were enrolled.

Delays in cancer treatment are detrimental across nearly every disease site in oncology including head and neck cancer. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of same-day access for patients with newly diagnosed head and neck cancer referred for radiation therapy consultation. From March 2021 to March 2023, a total of 50 consecutive patients who completed curative treatment were matched to a control subject who did not use the same-day initiative based on age, gender, histology, performance status, primary tumor site, stage, p16 status, treatment, and smoking history.

Background: Osimertinib, a third-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI), has been authorized for use in patients with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of neoadjuvant osimertinib in individuals with resectable locally advanced NSCLC harboring EGFR mutation.
Methods: Ten centers located in mainland China took part in a single-arm, real-world, multicenter retrospective study (registration number: ChiCTR2100049954).
