The 4,6,8(14)-triene-3-one steroids, highly fluorescent in aqueous solutions, lose their fluorescence power when binding occurs to hydrophobic regions of other molecules, such as the hydrophobic cavity in the ring system of cyclodextrins. The fluorescence intensity decreases almost completely when beta- and gamma-cyclodextrins are present in the solution. Scatchard plots derived from fluorescence titrations show that one or two molecules of steroid bind to one cyclodextrin molecule with KD,F-values of about 10(-4)-10(-5) mol/liter. Temperature-jump experiments show a single relaxation process, with rate constants for the decay of the beta-cyclodextrin-steroid complexes of about 10(4)-10(5) per s. For alpha- and gamma-cyclodextrins such relaxation processes are not observed.

The current study investigated the effect of a single administration of human chorionic gonadotropin hormone (hCG) and its nanoparticles (NPs) on testicular hemodynamics using Doppler ultrasonography, testicular volume, testicular echotexture (PIX), and circulating testosterone and nitric oxide (NO) in pubescent goat bucks during summer months. Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T) is a very rare multisystem disease of DNA repair, associated with progressive disabling neurological symptoms, respiratory failure, immunodeficiency and cancer predisposition, leading to premature death. There are no curative treatments available for A-T but clinical trials have begun. A major limiting factor in effectively evaluating therapies for A-T is the lack of suitable outcome measures and biomarkers.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem autoimmune rheumatic disease (ARD) that results from the dysregulation of multiple innate and adaptive immune pathways. Late-onset SLE (Lo-SLE) is the term used when the disease is first diagnosed after 50-65 years, though the standard age cut-off remains undefined. Defining "late-onset" as lupus with onset after 50 years is more biologically plausible as this roughly corresponds to the age of menopause.
