The article analyses the impact of wind suction on roof coverings glued with polyurethane adhesives to flat roofs, i.e., roofs with an up to 20% slope. The impact of the cyclical wind was simulated in fatigue tests, gradually increasing the test pressure in repeated sequences until the first delamination occurred. The tests were carried out for eight test sets, with concrete and trapezoidal sheets used as a construction substrate, on whose surface thermal insulation layers were glued with polyurethane adhesive; the thermal insulation layers were EPS (expanded polystyrene) and PIR (polymer mainly of polyisocyanurate groups), respectively, followed by flexible sheets, i.e., a laminated PVC membrane (polyvinylchloride) and an EPDM (terpolymer of ethylene, propylene and a diene with a residual unsaturated portion of diene in the side chain)-type rubber-based membrane. The test results were compared with the functional requirements determined with computational simulation methods for the maximum wind load values on the example of wind loads for Poland. The tests confirmed that some polyurethane adhesives could ensure the operation of flexible sheets used as flat roof coverings that are failure-free from the point of view of resistance to wind suction.

This research simulates the behavior of a tornado on a double-slope roof using the Ward tornado generator and the [Formula: see text] turbulence model. The effects of different ground roughness, slope angle, and wind field position on the tornado load characteristics of gable roofs were studied. The tornado-generating device established the tornado field under various working conditions, and the simulation results were compared with the experimental data to verify the reliability of the simulation results.

Non-healing wounds represent a substantial medical burden with few effective treatments available. To address this challenge, we developed a novel epidermal wound healing model using suction blisters in healthy volunteers. This model allowed for the comprehensive assessment of wound healing dynamics and the evaluation of INM-755, a topical cream containing cannabinol, as a potential therapeutic agent.

To elucidate the distribution law of the multiphase coupling slag discharge flow field in gas-lift reverse circulation during drilling shaft sinking, a numerical analysis model of gas-liquid-solid multiphase coupling slag discharge was established by CFD-DEM (Coupling of computational fluid dynamics and discrete element method) method, taking the drilling of North Wind well in Taohutu Coal Mine as an example. This model presented the distribution of the multiphase flow field in the slag discharge pipe and at the bottom hole, and was validated through experimentation and theoretical analysis. Finally, the impact of factors, including bit rotation speed, gas injection rate, air duct submergence ratio, and mud viscosity on the slag discharge flow field was clarified.

Renewable energy represents an important alternative solution for many energy problems nowadays and a tool for a healthier environment by reducing carbon footprints resulting from burning fossil fuels. However, more work needs to be done towards maximizing the energy produced from renewable energy methods and making sure that the infrastructure used stays in service for a longer duration. Sand erosion phenomena is responsible for the degradation of the wind turbine blades and hence the decrease in their performance and life.
