In a continuous search for an essential antidiabetic agent, Sida cordifolia hydroalcoholic (SCHA) extract-loaded chitosan nanoparticles (SCHA-CS-NP) were optimized. The Box-Behnken design (BBD Design-Expert software, version 14) with three parameters was used to optimize the nanoparticles after creating them using the ion gelation method. The chitosan and Tween 20 contents and the stirring speed were chosen as the independent variables, and their separate and combined effects on particle size (Y1), polydispersity index (Y2) and entrapment efficiency (Y3) were observed. The optimized formulation showed a particle size of 51 nm, an entrapment efficiency of 84.54% and a polydispersity index of 0.391. Physicochemical characterization, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), a drug release study, an ex vivo permeation study, and an antioxidant study were performed. Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) images demonstrated that chitosan nanoparticles loaded with rhodamine B-laden SCHA extract had superior penetration compared to the control (rhodamine B solution). Furthermore, compared to conventional ascorbic acid (IC = 45 µg/mL), a superior antioxidant activity was discovered for SCHA-CS-NPs (IC = 86.45 ± 2.24 µg/mL), while SCHA-CS-NPs also exhibited strong antidiabetic potential (IC = 93.71 ± 1.79 µg/mL) compared to standard acarbose (IC = 97.25 ± 1.43 µg/mL). The overall results demonstrated that SCHA-CS-NPs are a promising and efficient formulation for oral delivery.

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder affecting multiple joints and requires lifelong treatment. Present study was designed to formulate Esculin-loaded chitosan nanoparticles (ENPs) and evaluation of its anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic action. The acute toxicity study of ENPs was also performed.

While bipolar disorder patients can benefit from lithium therapy, high levels of lithium in the serum can induce undesirable systemic side effects. Intranasal (IN) lithium delivery offers a potential solution to this challenge given its potential to facilitate improved lithium transport to brain when delivered to the olfactory mucosa. Herein, a sprayable, in situ forming nanoparticle network hydrogel (NNH) based on Schiff base interactions between chelator-functionalized oxidized starch nanoparticles (SNPs) and carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCh) is reported that can be deployed within the nasal cavity to release ultra-small penetrative SNPs over time.

In this study, we developed a novel composite catalytic hydrogel, which integrates excellent mechanical properties, catalytic activity, and sensing performance. Discarded hydrogel sensors are reused as templates for in-situ generation of metal nanoparticles, and multifunctional hydrogels combining sensing and catalysis are realized. Polyacrylamide (PAM) provides a three-dimensional network structure, while octadecyl methacrylate (SMA) acts as a hydrophobic association center, enhancing the structural stability of the hydrogel.

A novel copper and iron doped containing chitosan and heparin sodium carbon dots (CS-Cu,Fe/HS) nanozyme was formulated through a single-step microwave digestion method. CS-Cu,Fe/HS exhibits excellent peroxidase (POD)-like activity and positive charge characteristics, and it can oxidize the negatively charged 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) in the presence of HO to produce a green compound (ox-ABTS). Furthermore, CS-Cu,Fe/HS enhances electron transfer and provides additional active sites through the valence state transformations of Fe/Fe and Cu/Cu.

Bond strength between repair and restorative materials is crucial for endodontic success. This study assessed the effects of the following final irrigation solutions on the bond strength of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) to a bulk-fill composite: (1) 17% Ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA); (2) 2% Chlorhexidine (CHX); (3) 0.2% chitosan; (4) 0.
