Polydopamine-based materials have been widely investigated for incorporation in energetic nanocomposites due to their outstanding adherence. However, these materials are often prepared in alkaline environments, which negatively affects Al nanoparticles. In this study, a one-pot assembly was devised for the preparation of a polydopamine-based Al/CuO energetic nanocomposite material (Al/PDA/CuO) in a neutral environment. The CuO and Al nanoparticles of the Al/PDA/CuO nanothermite were uniformly dispersed and closely combined. Consequently, the Al/PDA/CuO nanothermite was able to release more heat (2069.7 J/g) than physically mixed Al/CuO (1438.9 J/g). Furthermore, the universality of using polydopamine in the assembly of different types of energetic nanocomposite materials was verified, including an organic energetic material-nanothermit (HMX/PDA/Al/CuO nanothermite) and an inorganic oxidant-metal nanocatalyst (AP/PDA/FeO). This study provides a promising route for the preparation of polydopamine-based energetic nanocomposites in neutral aqueous solutions.

The plasmonic metal doping on the UV-active metal oxide nanoparticle turns the resultant plasmonic metal-metal oxide (PMMO) into visible light active and upon exogenous illumination the photogenerated energetic charge carriers and the generated reactive oxygen species (ROS, e.g. ·OH and O ) authoritatively enhances its biological and catalytic activity.

The development of photocatalysts must be meticulous, especially when they are designed to degrade hazardous dyes that cause mutagenesis and carcinogenesis. In this meticulous approach, Ni-based metal-organic frameworks with different ligands, including terephthalic acid (NTP), 2-aminoterephthalic acid (NATP), and their composite with g-CN (NTP/GCN, and NATP/GCN) have been synthesized using hydrothermal method. Structural analysis by XRD and ATR-IR revealed synergistic properties due to robust chemical interactions between the NATP-MOFs and GCN systems.

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have great potential as a renewable energy technology assisting combat climate change due to its low cost, adaptability, and sustainability. Oxygen plasma ion doping is a promising strategy to improve the capacity of a low-cost, platinum-free counter-electrodes (CEs) to absorb photons and drive high-performance DSSCs via generating an abundance of active absorption sites. In this instance, novel PAni-ZnO (PZ) composite layers were designed as a CE material and received various in-situ oxygen plasma dosages, including 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 min, to improve their physiochemical and microstructural feature for the first time, to the best of our knowledge.

Polyaniline-magnesia (PANI/MgO) composites with a fibrous nanostructure were synthesized via in situ oxidative polymerization, enabling uniform MgO integration into the polyaniline matrix. These composites were characterized using FTIR spectroscopy to analyze intermolecular bonding, XRD to assess crystallographic structure and phase purity, and SEM to examine surface morphology and topological features. The resulting PANI/MgO nanofibers were utilized to develop ammonia (NH) gas-sensing probes with evaluations conducted at room temperature.

Water scarcity has been a crucial debate in recent years regarding the critical scenario of water pollution. The water body is continuously contaminated by organic effluents of textile industries, including pigmented dye pollutants. To tackle water bodies contamination, there is a need to develop an eco-friendly and efficient method for removing toxic dyes.
