Background: HOPZ-ACTIVATED RESISTANCE 1 (ZAR1) is a nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat (NLR) protein functioning as a recognition hub to initiate effector-triggered immunity against bacterial pathogens. To initiate defense, ZAR1 associates with different HOPZ-ETI-DEFICIENT 1 (ZED1)-Related Kinases (ZRKs) to form resistosomes to indirectly perceive effector-induced perturbations. Few studies have focused on the phylogenomic characteristics of ZAR1 and ZRK immune gene families and their evolutionary relationships.

Determination diabetes mellitus disease markers in tear fluid by photothermal AFM-IR analysis.

Nanomedicine

January 2025

Institute of Physics, Department of Condensed Matter Physics, Faculty of Science, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Park Angelinum 9, Košice 041 54, Slovakia. Electronic address:

The tear fluids from three healthy individuals and three patients with diabetes mellitus were examined using atomic force microscopy-infrared spectroscopy (AFM-IR) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The dried tear samples showed different surface morphologies: the control sample had a dense network of heart-shaped dendrites, while the diabetic sample had fern-shaped dendrites. By using the AFM-IR technique we identified spatial distribution of constituents, indicating how diabetes affects the structural characteristics of dried tears.

is one of the two genera in the large fern family Aspleniaceae. A previous study explored the molecular phylogeny of this genus using several chloroplast DNA fragments and identified three major clades, one of which is the monophyletic Old World clade with southwestern China as its diversity center. To date, there were only a few studies conducted on chloroplast genomes in or Aspleniaceae, limiting the understanding of the plastome features and its role in evolution of this group.

The Pseudomonas syringae species complex harbors a diverse range of pathogenic bacteria that can infect hosts across the plant kingdom. However, much of our current understanding of P. syringae is centered on its infection of flowering plants.

Objective: Our aim was to examine the correlation between CVDs and various anthropometric and biochemical indices in the Iranian population.

Methods: 9704 healthy individuals without CVD aged 35-65 were enrolled in our study. The anthropometric indices including Body Adiposity Index (BAI), Abdominal Volume Index (AVI), Body Roundness Index (BRI), Waist to Hip Ratio (WHR), Weight-adjusted Waist Index (WWI), Conicity Index (C-Index), A Body Shape Index (ABSI), Waist to Height Ratio (WHtR), Body Surface Area (BSA), Body Mass Index (BMI), Lipid Accumulation Product (LAP) and Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI) were calculated.
