Polar monomer-induced β-H elimination is a key elementary step in polar polyolefin synthesis by coordination polymerization but remains underexplored. Herein, we show that a bulky neutral Ni catalyst, , is not only a high-performance catalyst in ethylene/acrylate copolymerization (activity up to ∼37,000 kg/(mol·h) at 130 °C in a batch reactor, mol % tBA ∼ 0.3) but also a suitable platform for investigation of acrylate-induced β-H elimination. , a novel Ni alkyl complex generated after acrylate-induced β-H elimination and subsequent acrylate insertion, was identified and characterized by crystallography. A combination of catalysis and mechanistic studies reveals effects of the acrylate monomer, bidentate ligand, and the labile ligand (e.g., pyridine) on the kinetics of β-H elimination, the role of β-H elimination in copolymerization catalysis as a chain-termination pathway, and its potential in controlling the polymer microstructure in polar polyolefin synthesis.

Extrinsic apoptotic network is driven by Death Ligand (DL)-mediated activation of procaspase-8. Recently, we have developed the first-in class small molecule, FLIPinB, which specifically targets the key regulator of extrinsic apoptosis, the protein c-FLIP, in the caspase-8/c-FLIP heterodimer. We have shown that FLIPinB enhances DL-induced caspase-8 activity and apoptosis.

Large-scale surveillance and informed vector control approaches are urgently needed to ensure that national malaria programs remain effective in reducing transmission and, ultimately, achieving malaria elimination targets. In South America, Anopheles darlingi is the primary malaria vector and is responsible for the majority of Plasmodium species transmission. However, little is known about the molecular markers associated with insecticide resistance in this species.

Radiomics and Deep Learning Model for Benign and Malignant Soft Tissue Tumors Differentiation of Extremities and Trunk.

Acad Radiol

January 2025

Department of Radiology, Southeast University Zhongda Hospital, No. 87 Dingjiaqiao Road, Gulou District, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China (M.Y., J.J.). Electronic address:

Rationale And Objectives: To develop radiomics and deep learning models for differentiating malignant and benign soft tissue tumors (STTs) preoperatively based on fat saturation T2-weighted imaging (FS-T2WI) of patients.

Materials And Methods: Data of 115 patients with STTs of extremities and trunk were collected from our hospital as the training set, and data of other 70 patients were collected from another center as the external validation set. Outlined Regions of interest included the intratumor and the peritumor region extending outward by 5 mm, then the corresponding radiomics features were extracted respectively.
