This work constitutes a new trial to enhance the properties of palladium supported on alumina modified with zirconium used as catalysts for methane combustion. The effect of the support drying mode is studied. For this aim, AlO-ZrO binary oxides with zirconium loading of 2 and 5% in weight were prepared using sol-gel process then dried under ordinary or supercritical conditions. Palladium with a loading of 0.5% was deposited on the support by wet impregnation. Several techniques have been used to investigate differences between the two types of the derived catalysts.

Since ancient times, traditional Chinese medicine pills have occupied a key position among different dosage forms of traditional Chinese medicine. With the aims of comprehensively improving the overall quality and innovating key technologies in the manufacturing of the pills, this article elaborates on the principles and new technology applications in pulverizing, sterilization, agglomeration, forming, and drying. In addition, modern technologies such as biosensing, image analysis, texture property evaluation, and moisture analysis can comprehensively and accurately characterize the quality of key materials in the manufacturing of traditional Chinese medicine pills, thereby achieving strict control over the quality of raw materials, intermediates, and final products and further monitoring and optimizing the entire production process of pill preparations.

Recent Advances in Drying and Development of Solid Formulations for Stable mRNA and siRNA Lipid Nanoparticles.

J Pharm Sci

December 2024

Department of Industrial and Molecular Pharmaceutics, College of Pharmacy, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN 47907, USA. Electronic address:

Current RNA lipid nanoparticle (LNP) based products are typically liquid formulations that require ultra-cold storage temperatures for stability. To address this limitation, recent efforts have focused on enhancing stability and enabling room temperature storage by converting these formulations into solid forms through drying processes such as lyophilization, spray drying, and spray-freeze drying. Nevertheless, the drying process itself can influence the stability of RNA/LNP formulations.

A bio-composite material was developed that contains chitosan, food-grade algae, and zeolite for the removal of brilliant green (BG) dye. The synthesized bio-composite was dried via two different methods (air-drying; AD, and freeze-drying; FD). The physicochemical characterization of air-dried chitosan-algae-zeolite (Cs-Alg-Zl-AD) and freeze-dried chitosan-algae-zeolite (Cs-Alg-Zl-FD) were investigated by spectroscopy (FTIR, SEM-EDX, and XPS), diffraction (XRD), surface charge via pH, specific surface area (SSA) and elemental analyses.

Flow Injection Analysis-Mass Spectrometry for the fast detection of frauds in Coleus forskohlii food supplements.

J Chromatogr A

November 2024

Instituto de Química Orgánica General (IQOG-CSIC), Juan de la Cierva 3, 28006 Madrid, Spain. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • Coleus forskohlii supplements (FKSs), popular for weight management due to forskolin, face issues like fraud and adulteration.
  • A new method using Flow Injection Analysis-Mass Spectrometry (FIA-MS) was developed to effectively detect these issues in FKSs.
  • The method revealed that 45% of tested samples did not contain forskolin, and there was a 69% discrepancy between the actual and labeled forskolin content, demonstrating FIA-MS as a reliable technique for quality assessment.

Rapid detection of corn moisture content(MC) during maturity is of great significance for field cultivation, mechanical harvesting, storage, and transportation management. However, cumbersome operation, time-consuming and labor-intensive operation were the bottleneck in the traditional drying process and dielectric parameter method. Thus, to overcome the above problems, a rapid detection method for corn MC based on improved complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (ICEEMDAN) combined with temporal convolutional network-bidirectional gated recurrent unit (TCN-BiGRU) model.
