Urolithiasis is a major public health issue due to its increasing prevalence. The objective of this study was to describe the spectrophotometric profile of upper urinary tract stones (UTS) in Senegal. We conducted a multicenter retrospective study of all patients treated for upper UTS whose chemical composition was analyzed from January 2014 to January 2020 in eight regions of Senegal. Socio-demographic, clinical, paraclinical, and prognosis data were collected and analyzed. Three hundred and thirty-four patients were included in this study with a mean age of 46.3 ± 18.4 years and a sex ratio of 1.38. About one-third of patients (31.1%) had a body mass index > 25 kg/m and 74.2% presented with lumbar pain was the main clinical symptom. Calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate stones were the predominant types found, respectively, in 37.7% and 24.5% of patients. Uric acid was the main stone constituent in 18.6% of patients and struvites represented 14.7% of cases. Stones were located in the renal calyces and pelvis in 71.2% of cases. Surgical lithotomy was performed in 62.7% of patients for UTS extraction. Upper UTS are frequent condition in Senegalese with predominance of males and young adults. Calcium and uric acid stones are the main types. Preventive dietary and lifestyle measures are needed to reduce their burden.

Background: Spinal cord injury/disease (SCI/D) profoundly affects both sexuality and urinary function. Catheterization is often necessary to manage bladder voiding and it can interfere with sexual activity.

Aim: We aim to investigate the effect of the bladder evacuation method on sexual activity in women with chronic SCI/D.

Background: Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) disorders has been reported to be associated with a maternal mortality rate of 7-10%, worldwide, and many women who survive, experience life changing morbidity. Triple P procedure (- perioperative placental localization and incision on the myometrium above the upper border of the placenta; - pelvic devascularisation; and -placental non-separation and myometrial excision) was developed in 2010 as a novel conservative alternative to peripartum hysterectomy to avoid severe maternal morbidity and mortality). There have been several modifications to the original Triple P Procedure to achieve "pelvic devascularisation" based on locally available resources.

Yale Department of Chronic Disease Epidemiology and Center for Perinatal, Pediatric and Environmental Epidemiology, Yale School of Public Health, New Haven, CT, USA; Mid-Norway Center for Sepsis Research, Department of Circulation and Medical Imaging, NTNU, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway.

Rationale & Objective: Observational studies suggest that uromodulin, produced by the kidneys, is associated with a reduced the risk of upper urinary tract infections, but inferences are limited by potential confounding factors. This study sought to explore further the validity of this association using Mendelian randomization.

Study Design: Two-sample Mendelian randomization study.

Purpose: Locally advanced colorectal tumors frequently invade adjacent organs, particularly the urinary bladder in the sigmoid colon and upper rectum, complicating multivisceral resections. This study compared postoperative outcomes of partial cystectomy (PC) and total cystectomy (TC) in patients with locally advanced colorectal cancer.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Central Register of Clinical Trials, and Web of Science for studies published up to November 2024.
