Models for polarization drag-mechanical analog of the Faraday effect-are extended to include inertial corrections to the dielectrics properties of the rotating medium in its rest frame. Instead of the Coriolis-Faraday term originally proposed by Baranova and Zel'dovich [Proc. R. Soc. London A: Math. Phys. Sci. 368, 591 (1979)10.1098/rspa.1979.0148], inertia corrections due to the fictitious Coriolis and centrifugal forces are here derived by considering the effect of rotation on both the Lorentz and plasma dielectric models. These modified rest-frame properties are subsequently used to deduce laboratory properties. Although elegant and insightful, it is shown that the Coriolis-Faraday correction inferred from Larmor's theorem is limited in that it can only capture inertial corrections to polarization drag when the equivalent Faraday rotation is defined at the wave frequency of interest. This is notably not the case for low-frequency polarization drag in a rotating magnetized plasma, although it is verified here using the more general phenomenological models that the impact of fictitious forces is, in general, negligible in these conditions.

We study hydrodynamic thermal transport in high-mobility two-dimensional electron systems placed in an in-plane magnetic field and identify a new mechanism of thermal magnetotransport. This mechanism is caused by drag between the electron populations with opposite spin polarization, which arises in the presence of a hydrodynamic flow of heat. In high mobility systems, spin drag results in strong thermal magnetoresistance, which becomes of the order of 100% at relatively small spin polarization of the electron liquid.

The temperature variations within the auroral region are K, generally consistent with previous studies, albeit with some structural differences. Known auroral heating sources including particle precipitation, Joule heating, and ion drag have been examined by studying the correlations between each derived quantity, yet no single dominant mechanism can be identified as the main driver for the energetics in Jupiter's northern auroral region.

Stimuli-responsive Pickering emulsions are promising in biocatalysis for their ease of product separation and emulsifier recovery. However, pH responsiveness, though simple and cost-effective, faces challenges in precise control and narrow transition ranges, limiting its use in enzymatic catalysis. Herein we introduced amorphous octenyl succinic anhydride-modified debranched starch chains (Am-OSA-St) to control emulsion properties within a pH range suitable for enzymatic catalysis.
