Background And Aims: Diarrhoea has a significant health impact and requires accurate diagnostic approaches, despite the limitations of many existing methods. This review examines various molecular techniques aimed at facilitating the rapid diagnosis of diarrhoeal diseases caused by bacterial, viral and parasitic pathogens.
Methods: A comprehensive systematic literature review was conducted using six prestigious databases, including WOS, Scopus, Science Direct, Embase, PubMed and LILACS Plus.

Side channels are unintended pathways within target systems that leak internal target information. Side-channel sensing (SCS) is the process of exploiting side channels to extract embedded target information. SCS is well established within the cybersecurity (CYB) domain, and has recently been proposed for medical diagnostics and monitoring (MDM).

Background: We describe the recent temporal patterns of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza virus detections in the Northern Territory (NT) of Australia, between 2020 and 2023.
Methods: This retrospective analysis of patients presenting with respiratory diseases utilised a multiplex viral nucleic acid detection assay for RSV, influenza and SARS Cov2 (COVID-19) to determine the relative frequency of non-COVID-19 respiratory viral detections by age and month during the study period.
Results: During this period of the NT COVID-19 epidemic, disruption of the usual annual wet season RSV outbreak patterns occurred, and the yearly influenza peak was absent for two annual cycles.

Background: MPT64 is a key protein used for (MTB) complex strain identification. We describe protracted transmission of an MPT64 negative MTB strain in Queensland, Australia, and explore genomic factors related to its successful spread.
Methods: All MPT64 negative strains identified between 2002 and 2022 by the Queensland Mycobacteria Reference Laboratory, and an additional 2 isolates from New South Wales (NSW), were whole genome sequenced.
