AI Article Synopsis

  • Primary lymphoma in the ureter is very rare, and this case focuses on diffuse large B-cell lymphoma that developed from a type of lymphoma associated with mucosal tissues.
  • Imaging tests like contrast-enhanced CT revealed thickening and enhancement in a specific section of the left ureter.
  • The thickened wall showed high levels of FDG uptake on PET scans, which can make it look like another type of cancer called urothelial carcinoma.

Article Abstract

Primary lymphoma of the ureter is extremely rare. We describe the contrast-enhanced CT and FDG PET/CT findings in a case of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma transformed from mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma limited to the left ureter. Contrast-enhanced CT showed 2 short-segment circumferential thickening and enhancement of the left pelvic and intramural ureteral wall. The thickened ureteral wall showed significantly increased FDG uptake mimicking urothelial carcinoma.

Background: Lymph node metastasis is closely associated with the prognosis of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This study aimed to evaluate the role of preoperative 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) parameters in mediastinal lymph node metastasis in NSCLC.

Methods: One hundred patients with NSCLC who underwent surgery, systematic lymph node dissection, who had undergone 18FFDG PET/CT for initial staging were divided into two groups: lymph node metastasis and non-metastasis.

Osseous sarcoidosis is a rare manifestation of sarcoidosis, often mimicking other conditions like metastatic disease. Skeletal involvement occurs in only 3%-13% of cases (1), making diagnosis challenging. We present the case of a 63-year-old female with a 1-month history of inflammatory bone pain and multiple lytic and blastic lesions.

Disease burden is a critical determinant of outcomes in CAR-T therapy for B-cell lymphomas, and one of the most widely used techniques for its assessment is Total Metabolic Tumor Volume (TMTV) measured via [F]FDG PET/CT. Biological parameters may further refine the risk profile. We analyzed baseline [F]FDG PET/CT scans from 40 patients treated with CAR-T, using an AI-based automated segmentation algorithm to determine TMTV.

Background: Radiotherapy with or without concurrent chemotherapy is a standard of care treatment for patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Upon completion, patients are referred for a post-treatment F-FDG PET/CT (Fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography) scan to help guide ongoing management by assessing for the presence or absence of residual or recurrent disease and differentiating this from post-treatment inflammation. To improve objective reporting of response, we developed the Christie score.

Purpose: PET imaging is a pivotal tool for biomarker research aimed at personalized medicine. Leveraging the quantitative nature of PET requires knowledge of plasma radiotracer concentration. Typically, the arterial input function (AIF) is obtained through arterial cannulation, an invasive and technically demanding procedure.
