Objective: Altered methylation patterns of insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-axis genes in small for gestational age (SGA) have been reported in different populations. In the present study, we analyzed the methylation status of IGF-axis genes in the placenta of appropriate for gestational age (AGA) and SGA neonates of South Indian women.

Methods: Placental samples were collected from AGA ( = 40) and SAG ( = 40) neonates. The methylation of IGF-axis genes promoter was analyzed using MS-PCR.

Results: , , and genes promoter methylation was 2.5, 1.5, 5, and 7.5% lower in SGA compared to AGA, respectively. Co-methylation of IGF-axis genes promoter was 40% and 20% in AGA and SGA, respectively. IGF-axis gene promoter methylation significantly ( < 0.05) influenced the levels of IGFBP3 protein, birth weight, mitotic index, gestational weeks, and and gene expression.

Conclusion: IGF-axis genes methylation was lower in SGA than in AGA, and the methylation significantly influenced the IGF-axis components.

Salmonids, classified as physostomous fish, maintain buoyancy by ingesting air to inflate their swim bladders. Long-term submergence has been shown to cause body imbalance and reduced growth performance in these fish. Previous studies have demonstrated that extended photoperiod can promote growth in salmonids.

The pikeperch () is an economically important freshwater fish and a valuable food with high market acceptance. It is undergoing important changes in growth and regulatory metabolism during the ontogeny. Hence, the current study aims to investigate the mRNA expression of the growth hormone ()/insulin-like growth factor () axis (, , , ), muscle regulatory factors (, , , , , , ), and osteogenesis-related genes (, , , , ) from hatching through day 40th post-hatching (DPH).

Objective: To further our understanding of the role of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)α on the inflammatory response in chondrocytes.

Design: We explored the effects of TNFα on the transcriptome of epiphyseal chondrocytes from newborn C57BL/6 mice at the total and single cell (sc) resolution.

Results: Gene set enrichment analysis of total RNA-Seq from TNFα-treated chondrocytes revealed enhanced response to biotic stimulus, defense and immune response and cytokine signaling and suppressed cartilage and skeletal morphogenesis and development.

Homosalate (HS) and octisalate (OS), which are used in sunscreen for the purpose of blocking ultraviolet rays, are frequently detected in water environment. Although effects on estrogens and androgens have been reported, studies on thyroid and growth hormone endocrine disruption are limited. In the present study, larval mortality was compared in wild-type and two knockout fish (thyroid hormone receptor alpha a knockout (thrαa) and dre-miR-499 knockout (dre-miR-499)) after 96 h of exposure to HS and OS (0, 0.

Mitochondria play a critical role in follicular development and ovulation, at least in part through the actions of growth hormone (GH)/insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) on mitochondrial biogenesis. This study aimed to identify seasonal alterations in the GH/IGF-1 system and mitochondrial biogenesis in muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus) ovaries. We utilized the muskrat, a typical seasonal breeder, to clarify the potential impact of the GH/IGF-1 system on mitochondrial biogenesis across different breeding seasons using immunohistochemistry, gene expression and high-throughput sequencing.
