This study evaluates the long-term donor site outcomes after second toe transfers for congenital hand differences performed during childhood. In total, 25 toe transfers in 18 patients were followed up for a mean period of 17.4 years. We examined the patients clinically, radiologically and with a gait analysis system. Patient-reported outcome measures were collected. The patients were asymptomatic and there were no problematic clinical or radiological findings. Patients expressed high levels of satisfaction. The results were consistent, regardless of the resection level in the toe transfer or whether the operation was unilateral or bilateral. No postoperative complications or late reoperations on the foot were observed. IV.

Objective: The transplantation of hearts from donors who experienced intracranial bleeding (ICB) has been associated with inferior long-term survival in both single-center analyses and, more recently, with the United Network for Ogan Sharing Registry. The purpose of this study was to further explore this relationship through propensity score matching in recipients receiving donor hearts from ICB and non-ICB donors in a large national registry.
Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort analysis of the United Network for Organ Sharing Registry Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network between 2006 and 2018 for adult candidates wait-listed for isolated heart transplantation.

Globally there is a shortage of available donor corneas with only 1 cornea available for every 70 needed. A large limitation to corneal transplant surgery is access to quality donor tissue due to inadequate eye donation services and infrastructure in many countries, compounded by the fact that there are few available long-term storage solutions for effectively preserving spare donor corneas collected in countries with a surplus. In this study, we describe a novel technology termed low-temperature vacuum evaporation (LTVE) that can effectively dry-preserve surplus donor corneal tissue, allowing it to be stored for approximately 5 years, shipped at room temperature, and stored on hospital shelves before rehydration prior to ophthalmic surgery.

Background: Robotic living donor hepatectomy offers potential advantages but has been limited to high-volume centers, primarily in Asia and the Middle East. We report our experience establishing a robotic living donor right hepatectomy program in a U.S.

Purpose Of Review: This narrative review evaluates the limitations of current heart transplantation allocation models, which prioritize medical urgency and waitlist time but fail to adequately predict long-term post-transplant outcomes. It aims to identify advanced metrics that can strengthen the prioritization framework while addressing persistent racial, geographic, and socioeconomic inequities in access to transplantation.
Recent Findings: Recent research indicates that incorporating frailty, nutritional status, immunological compatibility, and pulmonary hemodynamics into allocation frameworks can enhance the prediction of transplant outcomes.

Background: Chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) manifests with characteristics of autoimmune disease with organs attacked by pathogenic helper T cells. Recent studies have highlighted the role of T cells in cGVHD pathogenesis. Due to limited understanding of underlying mechanisms, preventing cGVHD after allogenic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) has become a major challenge.
