Background: Receiving gifts from patients could generate an ethical dilemma for physicians and refusing a present may be perceived as an offence.
Objective: To differentiate the particular physician characteristics that are associated with receiving gifts from outpatients. To propose a strategy to avoid gifts and thus ethical dilemma.
John James Rickard Macleod provided the facilities and support that enabled Frederick Banting and Charles Best to perform the experimental work that resulted in the discovery of insulin. This review considers Macleod's intellectual contribution to the initial discovery in light of his previously expressed opinions on glucose metabolism. He acknowledged the likely existence of an internal secretion from the pancreas and was aware of previous work in the area; however, seeking it was not among his research priorities.

Objectives: Despite high levels of mental ill-health amongst young people (aged 15-30), this group demonstrates low help-seeking and high drop-out from mental health services (MHS). Whilst shared decision-making can assist people in receiving appropriate and effective health care, young people frequently report that they do not feel involved in treatment decisions. The current study focused on co-design of a clinical education and participant information programme for the Brain and Mind Centre Youth Model of Care.

Quantification of motor symptom progression in Parkinson's disease (PD) patients is crucial for assessing disease progression and for optimizing therapeutic interventions, such as dopaminergic medications and deep brain stimulation. Cumulative and heuristic clinical experience has identified various clinical signs associated with PD severity, but these are neither objectively quantifiable nor robustly validated. Video-based objective symptom quantification enabled by machine learning (ML) introduces a potential solution.
