In this work, we report the scalable and modular synthesis of a library of 55 monomeric and dimeric flavonoids including 14 8,8'-biflavones. The sterically demanding tetra--substituted axis of an acetophenone dimer key intermediate was constructed in a regioselective manner using Fe-mediated oxidative coupling. This step was systematically optimized and performed on up to multigram scale. The biological activities of this compound library were evaluated, including cytotoxicity against healthy and malignant human cell lines, antimicrobial activity against the apicomplexan parasite , and antioxidant capacity. A marked increase in activity for the 8,8'-dimeric structures compared to that of their monomeric counterparts was observed. Several biflavones were identified with high selectivity indices (low cytotoxicity and high antiprotozoal activity), showing that this class of natural products may serve as lead structures for further investigations.

Stereocontrolled construction of tetrasubstituted olefins has been an attractive issue yet remains challenging for synthetic chemists. In this manuscript, alkynyl selenides, when treated with ArBCl, are subject to an exclusive 1,1-carboboration, affording tetrasubstituted alkenes with excellent levels of E-selectivity. Detailed mechanistic studies, supported by DFT calculations, elucidates the role of selenium in this 1,1-addition process.

Cancer, a heterogeneous disease, presents significant challenges for drug development due to its complex etiology. Drug repurposing, particularly through network medicine approaches, offers a promising avenue for cancer treatment by analyzing how drugs influence cellular networks on a systemic scale. The advent of large-scale proteomics data provides new opportunities to elucidate regulatory mechanisms specific to cancer subtypes.

This paper deals with a "digital twin" (DT) approach for processing, reprocessing, and scrapping (P/R/S) technology running on a modular production system (MPS) assisted by a mobile cyber-physical robotic system (MCPRS). The main hardware architecture consists of four line-shaped workstations (WSs), a wheeled mobile robot (WMR) equipped with a robotic manipulator (RM) and a mobile visual servoing system (MVSS) mounted on the end effector. The system architecture integrates a hierarchical control system where each of the four WSs, in the MPS, is controlled by a Programable Logic Controller (PLC), all connected via Profibus DP to a central PLC.

We test here the prediction capabilities of the new generation of deep learning predictors in the more challenging situation of multistate multidomain proteins by using as a case study a coiled-coil family of Nucleotide-binding Oligomerization Domain-like (NOD-like) receptors from and a few extra examples for reference. Results reveal a truly remarkable ability of these platforms to correctly predict the 3D structure of modules that fold in well-established topologies. A lower performance is noticed in modeling morphing regions of these proteins, such as the coiled coils.
