Tree-ring width chronologies of Du Tour from near the upper treeline in the Western Sayan, Southern Siberia are found to have an exceptional (below mean-3SD) multi-year drop near 1700 CE, highlighted by the seven narrowest-ring years in a 1524-2022 regional chronology occurring in the short span of one decade. Tree rings are sometimes applied to reconstruct seasonal air temperatures; therefore, it is important to identify other factors that may have contributed to the growth suppression. The spatiotemporal scope of the "nosedive" in tree growth is investigated with a large network of (14 sites) and Ledeb.

The role of a plant root system in resource acquisition is relevant to confront drought events caused by climate change. Accordingly, nursery practices like phosphorous (P) fertilization and root pruning have been shown to modify root architecture; however, their combined benefits require further investigation in Mediterranean species. We evaluated the effect of applied P concentrations (0, 15, 60, and 120 mg L P) with or without chemical (copper) root pruning (WCu, WoCu, respectively) in and on morpho-physiological and root architecture traits.

In such a changing environment, the shallow reinforcement effect of plant roots often fails to meet expectations. DNA damage response (DDR) contributes to seed quality by guarding genome integrity in the delicate phases of pre- and post-germination. As a key determinant of stress tolerance and resilience, DDR has notable implications on the wider scale of the agroecosystems challenged by harsh climatic events. The present review focuses on the existing and documented links that interconnect DDR efficiency with an array of molecular hallmarks with biochemical, molecular, and physiological valence within the seed metabolic networks.

The exposome concept underscores the cumulative impact of environmental factors, including climate change, air pollution, chemicals like PFAS, and heavy metals, on cardiovascular health. Chronic exposure to these pollutants contributes to inflammation, oxidative stress, and endothelial dysfunction, further exacerbating the global burden of CVDs.
