Black men with prostate cancer have historically had worse outcomes than white men with prostate cancer. The causes of this disparity in outcomes are multi-factorial, but a potential basis is that prostate cancers in Black men are biologically distinct from prostate cancers in white men. Evidence suggests that genetic and ancestral factors, molecular pathways involving androgen and non-androgen receptor signalling, inflammation, epigenetics, the tumour microenvironment and tumour metabolism are contributing factors to the racial disparities observed. Key genetic and molecular pathways linked to prostate cancer risk and aggressiveness have potential clinical relevance. Describing biological drivers of prostate cancer disparities could inform efforts to improve outcomes for Black men with prostate cancer.

Purpose: This study aims to determine dosimetric influence of rectal gas in carbon ion radiation therapy (CIRT) for prostate cancer and to establish a procedure for removal rectal gas in clinical scenarios.
Materials And Methods: We analyzed 18 prostate cancer cases with bulky rectal gas. The dose distribution was recalculated on computed tomography (CT) with bulky rectal gas (gasCT) after creating the initial plan on a CT without bulky rectal gas, and the doses were transformed using a displacement vector field.

Autophagy is a conservative process of self degradation, in which abnormal organelles, proteins and other macromolecules are encapsulated and transferred to lysosomes for subsequent degradation. It maintains the intracellular balance, and responds to cellular conditions such as hunger or stress. To date, there are mainly three types of autophagy: macroautophagy, microautophagy and chaperone-mediated autophagy.

An optical biosensor is a specialized analytical device that utilizes the principles of optics and light in bimolecular processes. Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) is a phenomenon in the realm of nanophotonics that occurs when metallic nanoparticles (NPs) or nanostructures interact with incident light. Conversely, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is an influential analytical technique based on Raman scattering, wherein it amplifies the Raman signals of molecules when they are situated near specific and specially designed nanostructures.

Aim/Objective The aim of this study was to investigate if diffuse, bilateral PI-RADS (Prostate Imaging Reporting and Data System) 3 changes, reported on MRI Prostate, harbour clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) within them. Methods Data from 108 men with diffuse, bilateral PI-RADS 3 changes on MRI of the prostate who underwent systematic prostate biopsy between January 2000 and November 2023 were analyzed. Histology results were classified as benign or malignant, and clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) was defined according to the European Association of Urology (EAU) guidelines as ISUP GG (International Society for Urological Pathology Grade Group) 2 or higher.

Background: The primary treatment of metastatic spine disease is radiation therapy (RT), traditionally conventional external beam RT (EBRT) or stereotactic body RT (SBRT). Until recently, there had been no Level 1 evidence supporting SBRT over EBRT, which has led to difficulties obtaining insurance approval. Publication of the first randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing SBRT to EBRT for spine metastases [Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG)] helped change this.
