In this investigation, we set out first to characterize the thermodynamics of Mg(AlH ) and secondly to use the determined data to reevaluate and update existing estimation procedures for heat capacity functions, enthalpies of formation and absolute entropies of alanates. Within this study, we report the heat capacity function of Mg(AlH ) in the temperature range from 2 K to 370 K and its enthalpy of formation and absolute entropy at 298.15 K, being  kJ mol and 133.06 J (K mol) , respectively. Using these values, we updated and expanded methods for the estimation of thermodynamic data of alanates.

As the energy density of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) increases, the shortened cycle life and the increased safety hazards of LIBs are drawing increasing concerns. To address such challenges, a series of localized high-concentration electrolytes (LHCEs) based on a solvating-solvent mixture of tetramethylene sulfone and trimethyl phosphate and a high flash-point diluent 1H,1H,5H-octafluoropentyl 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl ether were designed. The LHCEs exhibited nonflammability and greatly suppressed heat release at elevated temperatures, which would potentially improve the safety performance of the LIBs.

This study investigated the impacts of hot water treatment (HWT) at 50°C or 25°C for 5 min and high-temperature ethylene (HTE) exposure at varying temperatures (20°C, 30°C, or 35°C) and durations (24, 48, or 72 h) on the postharvest quality and antioxidant properties of mature green tomatoes (MG). Color changes, physicochemical characteristics, antioxidant compounds, and overall antioxidant ability were assessed. HWT increased β-carotene levels and oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) while preserving color metrics, despite later HTE exposure.

Coral reefs worldwide are threatened by increasing ocean temperatures because of the sensitivity of the coral-algal symbiosis to thermal stress. Reef-building corals form symbiotic relationships with dinoflagellates (family Symbiodiniaceae), including those species which acquire their initial symbiont complement predominately from their parents. Changes in the composition of symbiont communities, through the mechanisms of symbiont shuffling or switching, can modulate the host's thermal limits.

Lanthanide materials with a 4f electron configuration (S) offer an exciting system for realizing multiple addressable spin states for qubit design. While the S ground state of 4f free ions displays an isotropic character, breaking degeneracy of this ground state and excited states can be achieved through local symmetry of the lanthanide and the choice of ligands. This makes Eu attractive as it mirrors Gd in exhibiting the S ground state, capable of seven spin-allowed transitions.

Advanced Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage (AACAES) is a technology for storing energy in thermomechanical form. This technology involves several equipment such as compressors, turbines, heat storage capacities, air coolers, caverns, etc. During charging or discharging, the heat storage and especially the cavern will induce transient behavior of operating points, notably temperature, pressure, and volume flow.
