is a vegetable consumed for its nutritional content in Kenya. In herbal medicine, is utilized to relief fever, anemia and hemorrhage. Additionally, it is utilized to manage cognitive dysfunction and is considered to augment brain function, but there is no empirical evidence to support this claim. The contemporary study investigated cognitive enhancing potential of in mice model of Alzheimer's disease (AD)-like dementia induced with ketamine Cognitively damaged mice were treated with aqueous extract of leaf upon which passive avoidance task (PAT) was used to assess the cognitive performance. At the end of passive avoidance test, brains of the mice were dissected to evaluate the possibility of the extract to inhibit hallmarks that propagate AD namely oxidative stress and acetylcholinesterase activity. Additionally, characterization of secondary metabolites was done using liquid chromatograph- mass spectrometry analysis. During PAT test, extract-treated mice showed significantly increased step-through latencies than AD mice, depicting ability of to reverse ketamine-induced cognitive decline. Further, the extract remarkably lowered malondialdehyde levels to normal levels and effectively inhibited acetylcholinesterase enzyme. The study showed that extract is endowed with phytoconstituents that possess anti-oxidant and anticholinesterase activities. Thus, this study confirmed promising therapeutic effects of 200, 300 and 400 mg/kg bw of extract with potential to alleviate cognitive disarray observed in AD.

In light of the Chinese government's dual carbon goals, achieving cleaner production activities has become a central focus, with regional environmental collaborative governance, including the management of agricultural carbon reduction, emerging as a mainstream approach. This study examines 268 prefecture-level cities in China, measuring the carbon emission efficiency of city agriculture from 2001 to 2022. By integrating social network analysis and a modified gravity model, the study reveals the characteristics of the spatial association network of city agricultural carbon emission efficiency in China.

P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) plays a role in regulating tumor progression, but it is unclear whether P2X7R affects the pathological characteristics of patients with gastric cancer and the activity of gastric cancer cells. Therefore, this study preliminarily investigated the relationship between P2X7R and clinicopathological features of patients with gastric cancer, and further explored the effect of P2X7R on the proliferation, migration and invasion of gastric cancer cells through functional experiments. The results showed that P2X7R was highly expressed in gastric cancer tissues and gastric cancer cells.

Mangrove forests are increasingly recognized as vital blue carbon ecosystems due to their high carbon sequestration capacity, primarily through the accumulation of soil organic carbon (SOC). Recent research highlights that, in addition to SOC, dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), particularly in the form of bicarbonate (HCO₃⁻), plays a crucial role in carbon sequestration by being exported from these ecosystems to adjacent coastal waters. This study aims to investigate the previously unexamined mechanisms behind bicarbonate production in mangrove soils.

Using Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), it is possible to show chemical composition of materials and / or profile chemical changes occurring in tissues, cells, and body fluids during onset and progression of diseases. For diagnostic application, the use of blood would be the most appropriate in biospectroscopy studies since, (i) it is easily accessible and, (ii) enables frequent analyses of biochemical changes occurring in pathological states. At present, different studies have investigated potential of serum, plasma and sputum being alternative biofluids for lung cancer detection using FTIR.
