Although sodium alginate (SA) is frequently utilized because of its good gelling properties, the substance's dearth of adsorption active sites prevents it from effectively removing heavy metals. Herein, SA was used as the base material to form a cross-linked structure with Fe and Mg, and gel beads with a diameter of 2.0 ± 0.1 mm with specific adsorption on As(V) were synthesized as adsorbent (Fe/Mg-SA). Fe/Mg-SA was systematically characterized, and its adsorption properties were investigated by varying several conditions. Fe/Mg-SA had a wide pH application range. The adsorption kinetics revealed that a quasi-secondary kinetic model was followed. The adsorption process is linked to the complexation of hydroxyl and AsO, chemisorption predominated the adsorption process. The maximal adsorption capacity of Fe/Mg-SA is determined by fitting the Langmuir model to be 37.4 mg/g. Compared to other adsorbents, it is simpler to synthesis, more effective and cheaper. Each treatment of 1 m wastewater of Fe/Mg-SA only costs ¥ 38.612. The novel gel beads synthesized provides a better option for purifying groundwater contaminated with As(V).

Arsenic (As) pollution in coastal wetlands has been receiving growing attention. However, the exact mechanism of As mobility driven by tidal action is still not completely understood. The results reveal that lower total As concentrations in solution were observed in the flood-ebb treatment (FE), with the highest concentration being 7.

In this study, synthetic wastewater containing 110 µg/L arsenate (As(V)), 0-20 mg/L fulvic acid (FA), and 0-12.3 mg/L phosphate was treated with 3 mg/L Fe. The mechanisms of FA and phosphate effects on As(V) removal by ferric chloride were determined using 0.

Arsenic-contaminated groundwater is widely used in agriculture. To meet the increasing demand for safe water in agriculture, an efficient and cost-effective method for As removal from groundwater is urgently needed. We hypothesized that Fe (oxyhydr)oxide (FeOOH) minerals precipitated in situ from indigenous Fe in groundwater may immobilize As, providing a solution for safely using As-contaminated groundwater in irrigation.

Bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysis is a pivotal process that underpins a diverse array of sustainable energy technologies, including electrolyzers and fuel cells. Metal selenides have been identified as highly promising candidates for oxygen electrocatalysts with electronic structure engineering that lies at the heart of catalyst design. Two-phase Fe-doped nitrogen carbon (NC)-supported nickel selenides were synthesized using a coordination polymer template.

Inorganic arsenic (As) is one of the most significant chemical contaminants in drinking water worldwide. Although membrane-based technologies are commonly used for As removal, they often encounter challenges including complex operation, high energy consumption, and the need for chemical addition. To address these challenges, we proposed a one-step ultrafiltration (UF) process empowered by in situ biogenic manganese oxides (BioMnO) cake layers without any additional chemicals, to treat source water contaminated with both As and manganese (Mn).
