Background And Purpose: The purpose of reflection in the learning process is to create meaningful and deep learning. In this introduction, the guest editors of the "Next Era in Assessment" special collection frame the invited papers by envisioning a next era in assessment of medical education, based on ideas developed during a summit that convened professional and educational leaders and scholars. The authors posit that the next era of assessment will focus unambiguously on serving patients and the health of society, reflect its sociocultural context, and support learners' longitudinal growth and development. As such, assessment will be characterized as transformational, development-oriented and socially accountable.

Introduction: In this report, we present a cardiac ultrasound training module for medical student learners. The module assists medical students in developing foundational skills in image acquisition, identification of normal cardiac ultrasound anatomy, and demonstration of professionalism when performing the associated OSCE exam.

Background: Menstrual poverty remains a significant health problem among female learners in Zambia, particularly due to the lack of access to menstrual products, leading to the use of unsafe alternatives and potential health risks such as reproductive tract infections. To address this pressing issue, this study examined the disparities in knowledge, attitudes, and practices concerning menstrual poverty among female learners in both urban and rural government schools within Zambia.

Methods: The study utilized a mixed-method sequential explanatory design, combining quantitative and qualitative approaches.
