A new extraction and bacteriostatic ability of glucoside alkaloids in potato peel. To make better use of glucoside alkaloids, this experiment adopted ultrasonic microwave combined extraction of glucoside alkaloids from potato peel; then, the extracts of potato peel were subjected to bacteriostatic assays. The optimum experimental condition of response surface method was that the solid-liquid ratio was 1:18.00 g/mL, the ultrasonic power 505.00 W, the microwave time was 6.10 min and the ultrasonic time was 10.70 min. Under those conditions, the extraction amount of glucoside alkaloids was 292.91 mg/kg, which increased by about 28% compared with the QUEChERS method. The antibacterial activity of the obtained glucoside alkaloids was tested using five kinds of strains, and the results showed that and were more sensitive. The results indicated that Ultrasonic-Microwave combined extraction was more efficient and convenient than that of QuEChERS method for glucoside alkaloids and related antibacterial compounds from potato peel.

The separation of large polar constituents presents a substantial challenge in natural product research when employing column chromatography techniques, as the process is both complex and time-consuming. In this study, an acetonitrile/tetrahydrofuran/di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid/aqueous saturated sodium chloride solvent system was developed and utilized for the countercurrent chromatography of polar constituents from L. seeds.

Background: In the fifth National Wilms Tumor Study, patients received vincristine and dactinomycin (VA) without radiation for stage I focal anaplastic Wilms tumor (FAWT) and VA plus doxorubicin (DD4A) and radiation for stage II-IV FAWT. Four-year event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS) for stage I FAWT were 67.5% and 88.

Anti-angiogenesis offers an important treatment strategy for metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Metronomic chemotherapy (MCT) provides antiangiogenic effects without increased toxicities, making it good partner for antiangiogenic therapy. We conducted the present retrospective study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of anlotinib plus MCT for HER2 negative MBC.

Article Synopsis
  • A study investigated the effectiveness of empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor, in preventing kidney stones in nondiabetic adults with a history of calcium or uric acid stones.
  • The trial involved 53 participants who were given either empagliflozin or a placebo in a crossover design, focusing on changes in urine supersaturation ratios relevant to stone recurrence.
  • Results showed significant reductions in urine supersaturation ratios for calcium phosphate in calcium stone formers and uric acid in uric acid stone formers, indicating that empagliflozin may help prevent certain types of kidney stones without serious side effects.

This study aimed to investigate the protective effect of a novel capsaicinoid glucoside (CG) against HO-induced oxidative stress in HepG2 cells and elucidate its underlying molecular mechanism. CG treatment significantly reduced HO-induced cell mortality and attenuated the production of lactate dehydrogenase and malondialdehyde in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, CG drastically reduced the ROS levels 18.
