However, the incidence of chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) is high and is associated with worsened quality of recovery and life, as well as raised short-term or long-term mortality. Background: Complete blood cell count-based ratios (CBRs), including the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), are inflammatory markers associated with postoperative morbidity. Given the link between the surgical stress response and complications after total joint arthroplasty (TJA), this study aimed to evaluate whether higher preoperative CBR values predict greater postoperative benefits associated with dexamethasone utilization.
Methods: The Premier Healthcare Database was queried for adult patients who underwent primary, elective total hip or knee arthroplasty (THA or TKA).

To examine the association between perioperative methylprednisolone administration and postoperative pleural effusion and pneumonia in older patients with non-small cell lung cancer.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study included non-small cell lung cancer patients aged 65 years or older undergoing thoracic surgery between January 2012 and December 2019 in China.
