Cardiac tamponade is a life-threatening condition resulting from fluid accumulation within the pericardial sac, leading to impaired cardiac filling and output. Signs described in the literature, such as Beck's triad (hypotension, jugular venous distension (JVD), muffled heart sounds) or pulsus paradoxus can be absent especially in the early stages, particularly in non-trauma patients, making early diagnosis challenging. In this case series, we present three patients who developed tamponade with subtle symptoms, including shortness of breath and tachycardia, but without hypotension or other hallmark signs.

While salmonellosis is commonly thought to predominantly impact the gastrointestinal system, bacteremia and localized extraintestinal infections such as meningitis, empyema, and pericarditis can develop, particularly in immunocompromised individuals. Here, we present a case of a 69-year-old with multiple comorbidities, who presented to the emergency department with dyspnea and hemodynamics instability in the form of hypoxia and hypotension and was found to have moderate pericardial effusion without echocardiographic signs of tamponade. The ischemic workup was unrevealing, and further infectious workups, including pericardial tissue biopsy and pericardial fluid culture, showed growth in groups C and D.

Percutaneous closure of atrial septal defect (ASD) is less invasive than surgical closure and yields good results; however, cardiac erosion is a serious complication. It usually occurs within 72 h after implantation and rarely after months to years. Cardiac erosion has been rarely reported using Figulla Flex II (FFII; Occlutech, Schaffhausen, Switzerland).

Superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome is a clinical condition characterized by impaired venous return from the upper body due to intrinsic or extrinsic obstruction of the SVC. Endovascular stenting has become an effective intervention for symptomatic relief. However, the procedure carries a rare risk of life-threatening complications, including SVC perforation and cardiac tamponade.
