This study examines the numerical representation of fluid flow on the Maxwell model in a double-diffusive boundary layer over a horizontal plate. The investigation incorporates slip conditions, encompassing momentum slip, thermal slip, and suction parameters. Moreover, the study includes the inspiration of thermal radiation, heat generation, and mass transfer. The governing partial differential equations (pertaining to momentum, continuity, energy transport, and mass transport) are transformed into ordinary differential equations (ODEs) using appropriate similarity transformations. To solve these equations in conjunction with suitable boundary conditions, the bvp4c inbuilt software is implemented. This is achieved through the shooting approach employed in MATLAB. A comprehensive agreement between the numerical technique and previously published findings demonstrates its efficacy. The outcomes are presented through graphical representations and tables, showcasing various parameters such as momentum slip, temperature slip, local Nusselt number, Sherwood number, and suction parameter. The primary motivation of this research lies in investigating the behaviour of Maxwell fluid flow in the absence of slip conditions. The study of Maxwell fluid flow over a flat plate with the combined effects of suction, thermal slip, and momentum slip conditions has a wide range of practical applications that span multiple industries, contributing to improved designs, efficiency, and understanding of fluid behaviour in various systems. The main aim of this study is to present streamlined results under varying conditions, explicitly investigating the influence of suction effects and slip conditions on the flow.

To avoid wear and tear of the slip ring due to electrical corrosion, the slip ring needs to undergo the running-in process under atmospheric conditions without current after assembly. To address the urgent demand for long-service capability space conductive slip rings in the aerospace field, the running-in behavior and failure mechanism between the AgCuNi alloy and Au-electroplated layer are investigated using a ball-on-disc tribometer in this paper. The results show that the transfer film composed of Au plays an important role in modifying the friction during the sliding process.

Damage mechanisms are a key factor in materials science and are essential for understanding and predicting the behavior of materials under complex loading conditions. In this paper, the influence of different directions, different rates and different model parameters on the mechanical behavior of AZ31 magnesium alloy during the tensile process is investigated based on the secondary development of the VUMAT user subroutine based on the GTN damage model and verified by the tensile experiments at different loading rates and in different directions. The results show that AZ31 magnesium alloy exhibits significant differences in mechanical properties in radial and axial stretching, where the yield strength is lower in the radial direction than in the axial direction, and the elongation is the opposite.

In some occasions, outdoor steel structures like wind towers, bridges, winter sports facilities, and so on are subjected to extreme environmental conditions with the presence of ice and/or with below-zero temperatures. Sometimes in these situations, surface protection of the steel structure is usually designed using hot-dip galvanizing to improve its durability. In these special circumstances, the structure's connections are also exposed to adverse climatic agents.

Investigating the selection of corresponding support methods for tunnel lining structures with different burial depths under landslide loads has strong practical significance. This paper analyzes the influence of anti-slide piles on the lining support of tunnels at different depths through scaling experiments combined with numerical simulation methods. The conclusions of this study are as follows: Under the same anti-slide pile cross-sectional conditions, when the tunnel is at a shallower depth (above the slip surface), due to the influence of the landslide load, a significant bias stress phenomenon occurs in the tunnel lining.

This paper presents the design, development, and investigation of a novel piezoelectric inertial motor whose target application is the low Earth orbit (LEO) temperature conditions. The motor utilizes the inertial stick-slip principle, driven by the first bending mode of three piezoelectric bimorph plates, and is compact and lightweight, with a total volume of 443 cm and a mass of 28.14 g.
