Introduction: Anthracyclines treat a myriad of malignancies; however, they are known to lead to cancer therapy-related cardiomyopathy (CTRC). Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating the role of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEi) and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) in primary prevention of CTRC have yielded mixed results.
Methods: A systematic search of MEDLINE, Cochrane, and Scopus databases was performed to identify RCTs that evaluated outcomes in patients receiving anthracyclines and ACEi or ARBs versus control.

Background: Progesterone, which is present in the semen extender as a component of egg yolk is a potential inducer of capacitation in spermatozoa during cryopreservation. An anti-progesterone component in the extender may protect the spermatozoa from being capacitated and pre-acrosome reacted during cryopreservation. It may lead to better quality of post-thaw sperm population for improved conception.

Hormonal fluctuations across the female reproductive lifespan lead to physiological adjustments that impact insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism, generating unique challenges in diabetes management. Although current guidelines focus primarily on diabetes care during pregnancy, they lack tailored recommendations for addressing glycaemic variability associated with menstrual cycles, contraceptive needs, and menopause. Low rates of prepregnancy counselling, limited contraceptive guidance, and underuse of hormone replacement therapy further complicate care for women with diabetes.

A recent report on maternal deaths in Japan attributed to anaesthesia highlights the value of a national enquiry process which can review each death to determine the likely cause. It is through national enquiries, such as the UK Confidential Enquiries into Maternal Deaths, that deficiencies in care, including anaesthetic practice, can be identified and improvements made to effect better patient outcomes. The report also underlines that safe anaesthetic practice, particularly in the challenging environment of obstetrics, is best delivered by specialists trained in anaesthesia but who might be in short supply, even in large developed countries such as Japan.

Several recent literature reports indicate the strong neuroprotective potential of synthetic heterosteroids, still search for potent, safer and effective neuroprotective steroidal molecules continues. In the current study, a new series of 17-oximino-16-substituted steroids (1-8) has been evaluated in MPTP-induced Parkinson's disease in mice and amyloid-β induced Alzheimer's disease in rats with an intention to discover an effective and efficient neuroprotective molecule. Behavioural studies followed by histopathological and estimation of the several neuroinflammatory biochemical parameters such as acetylcholinesterase, lipid peroxide, reactive oxygen, and nitric oxide species were carried out.
