Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is the most recurrent malignant tumor found in the biliary system. It originates from the bile duct epithelial cells characterized by easy metastasis, high intermittent rate, and poor prognosis. Acetaldehyde dehydrogenase 1 (ALDH1), a marker of cancer stem cells, the levels of which are particularly elevated in various of malignant tumors. Additionally, the increased ALDH1 levels are closely related to the degree and prognosis of malignant tumors. This study reviewed the mechanisms underlying the changes in ALDH1 levels in CCA.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are associated with amyloid-β (Aβ) dysmetabolism, a pivotal factor in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). This study unveiled a novel miRNA, microRNA-32533 (miR-32533), featuring a distinctive base sequence identified through RNA sequencing of the APPswe/PSEN1dE9 (APP/PS1) mouse brain. Its role and underlying mechanisms were subsequently explored.

Patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) have a higher risk of developing colorectal cancer (CRC), however, the metabolic shifts during the UC-to-CRC transition remain elusive. In this study, an AOM-DSS-induced three-stage colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC) model is constructed and targeted metabolomics analysis and pathway enrichment are performed, uncovering the metabolic changes in this transition. Spatial metabolic trajectories in the "normal-to-normal adjacent tissue (NAT)-to-tumor" transition, and temporal metabolic trajectories in the "colitis-to-dysplasia-to-carcinoma" transition are identified through K-means clustering of 74 spatially and 77 temporally differential metabolites, respectively.

Preimplantation embryonic development is orchestrated by dynamic changes in the proteome and transcriptome, regulated by mechanisms such as maternal-to-zygotic transition. Here, we employed label-free quantitative proteomics to comprehensively analyze proteome dynamics from germinal vesicle oocytes to blastocysts in mouse embryos. We identified 3490 proteins, including 715 consistently detected across all stages, revealing stage-specific changes in proteins associated with translation, protein modification, and mitochondrial metabolism.

A combination of femtosecond stimulated Raman scattering and surface-enhanced Raman scattering, termed surface-enhanced stimulated Raman scattering (SE-FSRS), was proposed to leverage both temporal precision and sensitivity for advanced molecular dynamics analysis. During the initial successful implementations of this approach, unexpected spectral distortions were observed, and several potential explanations were proposed. Further progress in this novel technique and its broader implementation requires a profound understanding of the factors influencing the shape of the registered spectra and the underlying mechanisms.

Citrus Huanglongbing (HLB) represents a significant threat to the citrus industry, mainly caused by the phloem-limited bacterium Liberibacter asiaticus (Las). In this review, we summarize recent advances in understanding the relationship between citrus and Las, particularly examining the functions of Sec-dependent effectors (SDEs) and non-classically secreted proteins (ncSPs) in virulence, as well as their targeted interactions with citrus. We further investigate the impact of SDEs on various physiological processes, including systemic acquired resistance (SAR), reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, vesicle trafficking, callose deposition, cell death, autophagy, chlorosis and flowering.
