The H- and C-NMR spectra of three substituted N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)pyridinium perchlorates, precursors of solvatochromic 4-pyridiniophenolate betaines, were recorded in deuterated acetone, dimethylsulfoxide, and acetonitrile, and their spectral behavior in these solvents was analyzed as evidence of the solute-solvent interactions present in solution. The effect of the increasing orthogonality between the phenolic and pyridinium fragments was clearly evident from the obtained spectra, thus shedding light on the ground-state structures of their deprotonated solvatochromic derivatives and their interactions with the solvent.

Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are commonly considered accomplices in tumorigenesis and tumor development. However, the precise mechanism by which tumor cells prompt TAMs to aid in evading immune surveillance remains to be further investigated. Here, it is elucidated that tumor-secreted galectin-1 (Gal1) conferred immunosuppressive properties to TAMs.

Periodontitis, a chronic multifactorial inflammatory condition of the periodontium, is originated by a dysbiotic oral microbiota and is negatively correlated with several systemic diseases. The low-chronic burden of gingival inflammation not only exacerbates periodontitis but also predisposes individuals to a spectrum of age-related conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative disorders, and metabolic dysfunction, especially related to ageing. In this regard, over the local periodontal treatment, lifestyle modifications and adjunctive therapies may offer synergistic benefits in ameliorating both oral and systemic health in ageing populations.

Dental implants are crucial in contemporary oral rehabilitation, necessitating optimal integration with the surrounding soft tissues for durable success. The attachment between the implant surface and peri-implant mucosa should establish a secure seal to prevent bacterial infiltration and subsequent tissue inflammation. This concise review examines the histological and biological perspectives of peri-implant soft tissue reactions to zirconium and titanium abutments, shedding light on their respective advantages and limitations.

Ubiquitination is cells' second most abundant posttranslational protein modification after phosphorylation. The ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) is critical in maintaining essential life processes such as cell cycle control, DNA damage repair, and apoptosis. Mutations in ubiquitination pathway genes are strongly linked to the development and spread of multiple cancers since several of the UPS family members possess oncogenic or tumor suppressor activities.
