Background: Oral fluid contains analytes that may be reflective of health and welfare in pig herds. Additionally, oral fluid collection is a more convenient and cost-effective option when compared to blood sampling, increasing the potential of oral fluid as a non-invasive alternative tool. While a growing number of biomarkers can be measured in porcine oral fluid, the use of these analytes to compare commercial herds in veterinary practice is still limited.

Objectives: Altitude is a known factor in cardiovascular disease, but its impact on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) patients remains unclear. This study aimed to determine whether living at high altitudes affects the extent of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and left ventricular (LV) strain in HCM patients.
Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted across four hospitals located at different altitudes in China.

Care quality assessment emerged in the late 1990s, leading to the integration of users into healthcare systems. To integrate patient perceptions, resources such as PROs (Patient Reported Outcomes), PROMs (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures), satisfaction and patient experts or partners have been developed. PREMs (Patient-Reported Experience Measures) have recently emerged, bringing a fresh perspective to improving quality and care pathways, but are still little-known.

Succession is one of the most extensively studied ecological phenomena, yet debates persist about the importance of dispersal and external factors in driving this process. We aimed to quantify the influence of these factors by investigating how wing-related traits evolve across succession of blowfly (Diptera: Calliphoridae) communities in South Brazil. Rat carrion was placed in both forest and grassland habitats, and the associated blowfly communities were documented throughout the decomposition process.

ABCB1/MDR-1/P-glycoprotein (Pgp) is an ABC transporter responsible for cancer cell multi-drug resistance. It is expressed in cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL). Eliminating sensitive cancer cells during high-dose chemotherapy can also damage immune cells.
