Macropinocytosis is a nonselective form of endocytosis that allows cancer cells to largely take up the extracellular fluid and its contents, including nutrients, growth factors, etc. We first elaborate meticulously on the process of macropinocytosis. Only by thoroughly understanding this entire process can we devise targeted strategies against it.

Disulfidptosis is a recently identified form of cell death characterized by the aberrant accumulation of cellular disulfides. This process primarily occurs in glucose-starved cells expressing higher levels of SLC7A11 and has been proposed as a therapeutic strategy for cancers with hyperactive SCL7A11. However, the potential for inducing disulfidptosis through other mechanisms in cancers remains unclear.

In the clinic, Lipiodol chemotherapeutic emulsions remain a main choice for patients diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) via the mini-invasive transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) therapy. However, the poor stability of conventional Lipiodol chemotherapeutic emulsions would result in the fast drug diffusion and incomplete embolization, inducing systemic toxicity and impairing the efficacy of TACE therapy. Therefore, it is of great importance to construct alternative formulations based on commercial Lipiodol to achieve the improved efficacy and safety of HCC treatment.

Cancer cachexia is a multifactorial syndrome characterized by a progressive loss of body weight occurring in about 80% of cancer patients, frequently representing the leading cause of death. Dietary intervention is emerging as a promising therapeutic strategy to counteract cancer-induced wasting. Serine is the second most-consumed amino acid (AA) by cancer cells and has emerged to be strictly necessary to preserve skeletal muscle structure and functionality.

Unlabelled: The fission yeast regulon genes , , and -encoding a cell surface-associated acid phosphatase (Pho1), a plasma membrane inorganic phosphate transporter (Pho84), and a plasma membrane glycerophosphocholine transporter (Tgp1)-are strongly upregulated in response to acute phosphate starvation, as are the and genes that encode putative 5'-nucleotidase paralogs of the binuclear metallophosphoesterase enzyme superfamily. Via proteomic analysis of the medium harvested from phosphate-replete and phosphate-starved fission yeast, we define a starvation secretome that includes SPBPB2B2.06c (renamed Efn1, for xtracellular ive-prime ucleotidase), SPAC1039.
