Objective: Blended cognitive behavioral therapy (bCBT) combines face-to-face therapy with digital elements, such as digital health apps. This pilot study aimed to explore the effectiveness and safety of a novel bCBT application for treating unipolar depression in adults combined with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) compared to CBT alone in routine care.
Methods: Patients ( = 82) were randomly assigned to bCBT ( = 42) or CBT ( = 40) over 12 weeks. bCBT consisted of weekly CBT sessions accompanied by the depression module (a bCBT application for unipolar depression) for use between sessions. Standard CBT consisted of weekly CBT sessions. Outcomes (6,12 weeks) were analyzed with linear mixed models.
Results: Improvements in depressive symptoms (BDI-II, PHQ-9) were descriptively larger for the bCBT group. Yet, this difference did not reach statistical significance. bCBT was superior to standard CBT in secondary outcome measures of psychological health ( = .50) and generalized anxiety symptoms ( = -.45). In other secondary outcomes (BAI, PSWQ, GSE, WHOQOL-BREF), improvements were descriptively larger for bCBT compared to CBT.
Conclusion: This pilot study provided preliminary evidence that bCBT might be advantageous in comparison to CBT alone in the treatment of depression, but larger RCTs of the bCBT application are needed.

Background: 2022 survey data showed 29% of Veterans utilized Veterans Affairs (VA) paid health care at a non-VA facility, 6% higher than in 2021. Despite an increase in the number of Veterans accessing care in the community via the MISSION Act Community Care Program (CCP), there is limited information on the quality of mental health care delivered to Veterans in these settings. Further, Veterans report barriers to quality care, including poor communication between CCP and VA providers, which can result in negative patient outcomes.

Background: Cortical morphometry is an intermediate phenotype that is closely related to the genetics and onset of major depressive disorder (MDD), and cortical morphometric networks are considered more relevant to disease mechanisms than brain regions. We sought to investigate changes in cortical morphometric networks in MDD and their relationship with genetic risk in healthy controls.
Methods: We recruited healthy controls and patients with MDD of Han Chinese descent.

Background: This study aims to examine the relationship between maternal antenatal and postnatal depressive disorders and the risk of disruptive behavioural disorders (DBDs) in offspring, including conduct disorder (CD) and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), to enhance understanding and address gaps in the literature.
Methods: We utilised a large administrative health dataset from New South Wales (NSW), Australia. Maternal perinatal depressive disorders and offspring DBDs were identified using International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) codes.
Purpose: This study investigates mental health-related content to delineate potentially deficient topics for improvement in future obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) resident educational curriculum initiatives.
Method: In this quantitative content analysis, educational resources commonly used by OBGYN residents were selected based on a 2020 multi-institutional survey of OBGYN residents and informal group discussion with 32 OBGYN residents from a New York academic institution in April 2020. After independent screening, the authors iteratively developed, tested, and implemented a coding scheme for relevant keywords.
Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the predictive validity and discriminatory ability of clinical outcomes, inflammatory activity, oxidative and vascular damage, and metabolic mechanisms for detecting significant improve maximum heart rate after physical activity training in individuals with psychiatric disorders and obesity comorbid using a longitudinal design and transdiagnostic perspective.
Methods: Patients with major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder and, schizophrenia and with comorbid obesity (n = 29) were assigned to a 12-week structured physical exercise program. Peripheral blood biomarkers of inflammation, oxidative stress, vascular mechanisms, and metabolic activity, as well as neurocognitive and functional performance were assessed twice, before and after intervention.
