Nonconvulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) was initially described in patients with typical and atypical absence status epilepticus (ASE) characterized by states of confusion varying in severity and in focal epilepsies with or without alteration of consciousness. Continuous EEG monitoring of critically ill patients has further refined the classification of NCSE into two main categories: with coma and without coma. Hypnotic, soporific or somniferous epileptic seizures do not exist.

Inhibition of the invasive plant Ambrosia trifida by Sigesbeckia glabrescens extracts.

Ecotoxicol Environ Saf

January 2025

Shenzhen Branch, Guangdong Laboratory for Lingnan Modern Agriculture, Genome Analysis Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Agricultural Genomics Institute at Shenzhen, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Shenzhen 518120, China. Electronic address:

Ambrosia trifida is an invasive weed that destroys the local ecological environment, and causes a reduction in population diversity and grassland decline. The evolution of herbicide resistance has also increased the difficulty of managing A. trifida, so interspecific plant competition based on allelopathy has been used as an effective and sustainable ecological alternative.

Dapsone is a sulfone used in treating inflammatory skin conditions. Despite its widespread dermatological use, the pharmacological actions of dapsone remain poorly understood. Here, we examined how different aspects of neutrophil functions are affected by dapsone.

Introduction: Accurate prognostication in comatose survivors of cardiac arrest is a challenging and high-stakes endeavor. We sought to determine whether internal EEG subparameters extracted by the Bispectral Index (BIS) monitor, a device commonly used to estimate depth-of-anesthesia intraoperatively, could be repurposed to predict recovery of consciousness after cardiac arrest.

Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we trained a 3-layer neural network to predict recovery of consciousness to the point of command following versus not based on 48 hours of continuous EEG recordings in 315 comatose patients admitted to a single US academic medical center after cardiac arrest (Derivation cohort: N=181; Validation cohort: N=134).

Effective delivery of therapeutic agents for solid tumour treatment is impeded by multiple obstacles, such as aberrant interstitial fluid pressure and high density of the extracellular matrix, which causes impaired penetration to deep avascular tumour tissue that exists in a hypoxic immune cold environment. Only limited tumoricidal effects have been achieved with traditional nanomedicine due to its inefficient penetration and the multiple resistant effects that exist in the tumour microenvironment. Herein, a new chemo-dynamic immunotherapy (CDIT) is proposed based on a transcytosis tumour oxygenator (MnP) with effective chemo-dynamic effects.
