A perylene diimide containing side-chain amines (PDIN) was studied as an organic cathode for application in lithium batteries, showing a high capacity of 174 mA h g. The chemical structures, experimental results, and calculation analyses verify that PDIN performed a 4-electron redox reaction jointly involving its CO and side-chain amine groups. This study promotes the development of organic cathodes with multi-electron redox reactions.

The feasibility of utilizing a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD)/sulfite-ultrafiltration system was investigated in various real water bodies, aiming to clarify the mechanism behind alleviating membrane fouling while synchronously degrading perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) during the treatment process of Yangtze River water. The results demonstrated that the DBD/sulfite pretreatment exhibited remarkable rates of membrane flux mitigation (>84.10 %) and efficient degradation rates of PFOA (>85.

A low-cost, lab-made polytetrafluoroethylene micro-cell, equipped with three electrodes, wasd eveloped for the impedimetric detection of SARS-CoV-2. The gold working electrode was modified with a double-ended thiolated poly-adenine probe, which was conjugated with magnetic Fe₃O₄@Au nanoparticles (FeO@Au-(S-polyA-S)-Au). After the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) of viral RNA, the single-guide RNA (sgRNA), specifically bound to the SARS-CoV-2 target sequence, activates Cas12a.

We demonstrate a switchable electrocatalysis mechanism modulated by hydrogen bonding interactions in ligand geometries. By manipulating these geometries, specific electrochemical processes at a single catalytic site can be selectively and precisely activated or deactivated. The α geometry enhances dioxygen electroreduction (ORR) while inhibiting protium redox processes, with the opposite effect seen in the β geometry.

Design and integration of multiple redox-active organic scaffolds into tailored polymer structures to enhance the specific capacity and cycling life is a long-term research goal. Inspired by nature, we designed and incorporated a 4-electron accepting dicarbonylpyridinium redox motif into linear (DBMP) and cross-linked polymer (TBMP) structures. Benefiting from the suppressed solubility and higher electronic conductivity, the cross-linked TBMP based electrode exhibits improved cycling stability and higher specific capacity than the linear counterpart.

The development of electron transport and n-type materials is still largely dominated by a limited number of organic semiconductors, with fullerenes at the forefront. In contrast, substantial progress has been made in developing hole transport and p-type materials. Therefore, expanding the range of electron acceptors, making them solution-processable, and elucidating their structural arrangement by X-ray crystallography is essential.
