Background: The distinction between D3 lymph nodes and actual lymphatic pathways in primary tumors can be difficult during surgery, making it challenging to confirm the completeness of D3 lymph node dissection. Fluorescence lymph node mapping (FLNM) is a promising method for lymph node visualization.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess whether FLNM enhances the effectiveness of D3 lymph node dissection in patients with right-sided colon cancer.

Methods: Endoscopic submucosal indocyanine green injection were performed on the distal margin of the colon cancer. In an FLNM group, the lymphatic drainage pathway and distribution of D3 lymph nodes were explored. Pathological evaluations were conducted for the fluorescent D3 and non-fluorescent D3 lymph nodes.

Results: The FLNM group showed a significantly higher number of harvested lymph nodes in the D3 area. In stage III patients, the proportion of D3 lymph node metastasis was significantly higher in the FLNM group. The harvested D3 lymph node count showed a proportional correlation with a metastatic lymph node count of up to 15.

Conclusion: FLNM could be considered a promising new strategy to potentially increase harvested D3 lymph node counts in colon cancer surgery.

The use of dual-tracer contrast agents in clinical applications, such as sentinel lymph node (SLN) identification, offers significant advantages including enhanced accuracy, sensitivity, as well as comprehensive and multimodal visualization. In the current clinical practice, SLNs are typically marked prior to surgical resection by multiple and sequential injections of two tracers, the radioactive tracer and methylene blue (MB) dye. This imposes physical and psychological burden on patients and medical staff.

Distinct molecular subtypes of muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) may show different platinum sensitivities. Currently available data were mostly generated at transcriptome level and have limited comparability to each other. We aimed to determine the platinum sensitivity of molecular subtypes by using the protein expression-based Lund Taxonomy.

Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is an aggressive lethal malignancy with limited options for treatment and a 5-year survival rate of 11% in the United States. As for other types of tumors, such as colorectal cancer, aberrant lipid synthesis and reprogrammed lipid metabolism have been suggested to be associated with PDAC development and progression.

Aim: To identify the possible involvement of lipid metabolism in PDAC by analyzing in tumoral and non-tumoral tissues the expression level of the most relevant genes involved in the long-chain fatty acid (FA) import into cell.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a prevalent malignant neoplasm characterized by subtle early manifestations.

Aim: To investigate the correlation among serum lipid profiles, the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, and the atherosclerotic index (AI) in patients with CRC. Furthermore, it explored the clinical diagnostic utility of combining serum lipids with cancer antigens in the context of CRC.

Correlations of the expression of Cx43, SCF, p-cyclin E1 (Ser73), p-cyclin E1 (Thr77) and p-cyclin E1 (Thr395) in colon cancer tissues.

Background: Previous cellular studies have demonstrated that elevated expression of Cx43 promotes the degradation of cyclin E1 and inhibits cell proliferation through ubiquitination. Conversely, reduced expression results in a loss of this capacity to facilitate cyclin E degradation. The ubiquitination and degradation of cyclin E1 may be associated with phosphorylation at specific sites on the protein, with Cx43 potentially enhancing this process by facilitating the phosphorylation of these critical residues

Aim: To investigate the correlation between expression of Cx43, SKP1/Cullin1/F-box (SCF), p-cyclin E1 (ser73, thr77, thr395) and clinicopathological indexes in colon cancer.
