Preparation and characterization of tildipirosin-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles for the treatment of intracellular infections.

Biomater Sci

January 2025

School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Life Science, Hubei Key Laboratory of Nanomedicine for Neurodegenerative Diseases, Wuhan University of Technology, 122 Luoshi Road, Wuhan 430070, China.

To enhance the antibacterial efficacy of tildipirosin against (S.A.) infections, optimized solid lipid nanoparticles loaded with tildipirosin (SLN-TD) were developed, using docosanoic acid (DA), octadecanoic acid (OA), hexadecanoic acid (HA), and tetradecanoic acid (TA) as lipid components.

Exploring the noncovalent interaction between β-lactoglobulin and flavonoids under nonthermal process: Characterization, physicochemical properties, and potential for lycopene delivering.

Food Chem X

January 2025

Zhejiang Provincial Key Lab for Biological and Chemical Processing Technologies of Farm Product, School of Biological and Chemical Engineering, Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, Hangzhou 310023, Zhejiang, China.

The poor structure stability and low bioavailability of lycopene (LY) hampers the wide application in food field. Thus, it is crucial to explore novel deliver carrier for LY based on protein-flavonoid complexes. In this study, the noncovalent interaction mechanism between β-lactoglobulin (β-LG) and flavonoids (apigenin (API), luteolin (LUT), myricetin (MY), apigenin-7-O-glucoside, luteolin-7-O-glucoside, and myricetrin) under ultrasound treatment was explored.

Dairy cows with clinical ketosis (CK) exhibit metabolic changes, including intense adipose tissue (AT) lipolysis and systemic insulin resistance, that increase plasma BHB and free fatty acids (FFA). Cows with CK also have systemic inflammation, predisposing them to inflammatory and infectious diseases. This inflammatory process is modulated in part by oxidized fatty acids (oxylipins) that regulate all aspects of inflammation.

Apolipoprotein () genotype and nitric oxide (NO) deficiency are risk factors for age-associated cognitive decline. The oral microbiome plays a critical role in maintaining NO bioavailability during aging. The aim of this study was to assess interactions between the oral microbiome, NO biomarkers, and cognitive function in 60 participants with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and 60 healthy controls using weighted gene co-occurrence network analysis and to compare the oral microbiomes between carriers and noncarriers in a subgroup of 35 MCI participants.

Future applications of cyclic antimicrobial peptides in drug delivery.

Expert Opin Drug Deliv

January 2025

Center for Targeted Drug Delivery, Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chapman University School of Pharmacy, Irvine, California, USA.

Introduction: Cyclic antimicrobial peptides (CAMPs) are gaining attention as promising candidates in advanced drug delivery systems due to their structural stability, resistance to proteolytic degradation, and versatile therapeutic potential. Their unique properties enable applications that extend beyond combating multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens. Their amphipathic and cell-penetrating properties allow them to efficiently transport drugs across cellular membranes.
