Purpose: Angular sign of Henle fiber layer hyperreflectivity is a marker of Henle fibre layer ischemia. Our aim is to describe angular sign of Henle fiber layer hyperreflectivity as a novel optical coherence tomography sign in Purtscher and Purtscher-like retinopathy.

Methods: Here, we present three cases, one classical Purtscher retinopathy and two Purtscher-like retinopathy who had angular sign of Henle fiber layer hyperreflectivity on spectral domain optical coherence tomography imaging.

Results: Modalities such as color fundus photography, cross-sectional optical coherence tomography, optical coherence tomography angiography, and fluorescein angiography were used.

Conclusion: Presence of angular sign of Henle fiber layer hyperreflectivity in Purtscher retinopathy and Purtscher-like retinopathy points toward a deep capillary plexus insult and has prognostic implications.

Concentric ring optical traps for orbital rotation of particles.

Nanophotonics

December 2023

State Key Laboratory of Transient Optics and Photonics, Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xi'an 710119, China.

Optical vortices (OVs), as eigenmodes of optical orbital angular momentum, have been widely used in particle micro-manipulation. Recently, perfect optical vortices (POVs), a subclass of OVs, are gaining increasing interest and becoming an indispensable tool in optical trapping due to their unique property of topological charge-independent vortex radius. Here, we expand the concept of POVs by proposing concentric ring optical traps (CROTs) and apply them to trapping and rotating particles.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect on outer retina integrity of foveal sparing internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling compared to standard ILM peeling on proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) eyes affected by diabetic macular edema (DME) and epiretinal membrane (ERM).

Materials And Methods: Eyes diagnosed with PDR, DME and ERM eligible for vitrectomy were prospectively recruited and randomly assigned to either foveal sparing (FS) group and no foveal sparing (nFS) group. Ellipsoid zone (EZ) lesion size, EZ reflectivity and external limiting membrane (ELM) integrity and angular sign of Henle Fiber Layer Hyperreflectivity (ASHH) were assessed preoperatively and 1 year postoperatively.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze the significance of high-intensity signals in interspinous ligaments in patients with degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis (DLS) and to identify the best diagnostic methods for assessing segmental instability.
  • A total of 73 patients were assessed, divided into two groups based on the presence of high-intensity signals, with Group H showing more functional impairment and longer 5-repetition sit-to-stand test times compared to Group NH.
  • The results indicated that instability was more prevalent in Group H (77.3%) compared to Group NH (37.3%), suggesting that high-intensity signals correlate with more severe segmental instability in DLS.

A Static Sign Language Recognition Method Enhanced with Self-Attention Mechanisms.

Sensors (Basel)

School of Measurement and Control Technology and Communication Engineering, Harbin University of Science and Technology, Harbin 150080, China.

For the current wearable devices in the application of cross-diversified user groups, it is common to face the technical difficulties of static sign language recognition accuracy attenuation, weak anti-noise ability, and insufficient system robustness due to the differences in the use of users. This paper proposes a novel static sign language recognition method enhanced by a self-attention mechanism. The key features of sign language gesture classification are highlighted by the weight function, and then the self-attention mechanism is combined to pay more attention to the key features, and the convolutional neural network is used to extract the features and classify them, which realizes the accurate recognition of different types of static sign language under standard gestures and non-standard gestures.
