Motivation: Investigating novel drug-target interactions is crucial for expanding the chemical space of emerging therapeutic targets in human diseases. Herein, we explored the interactions of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 and protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B with selected terpenoids from African antidiabetic plants.
Results: Using molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, molecular mechanics with generalized Born and surface area solvation-free energy, and density functional theory analyses, the study revealed dipeptidyl peptidase-4 as a promising target.

The involvement of service-users, clinicians, and other health service end-users is recognised as an essential part of health and medical research. This collaborative approach can significantly contribute to methodological advancements including the development of research instruments and measures that ensure their suitability for research participants. The current paper details the co-design, development and implementation of the novel, digitised COGwheel (Co-designed Outcomes for Guests Evaluation Wheel).

Introduction: Despite dramatic advances in the care of trauma patients over the last fifty years, cardiac stab wounds (CSW) remain highly lethal, and the specific relationship between serum lactate level and mortality is unknown.
Methods: A retrospective review was conducted on all patients who presented with intraoperatively confirmed CSW from January 2008 to January 2020 at a major trauma centre in South Africa. Admission serum lactate level and patients' clinical outcomes were reviewed.

Background: Vaccination hesitancy poses a serious threat to mpox vaccination programs. Historically, vaccine uptake in the African region has been low, and this trend may impact future vaccination efforts. Our aim was to investigate the relationships between mpox vaccination hesitancy, immunisation coverage for other vaccines, and vaccination readiness among African adults.
