The transition from secondary school to college or university is a well-known and well-studied risk period for weight and/or fat gain and not meeting the dietary recommendations. Higher education acts as a promising setting to implement nutrition interventions. An important condition for intervention success is that interventions are implemented as intended by the protocol and integrated in the institutional policy.

Striatum, the input stage of the basal ganglia, is important for sensory-motor integration, initiation and selection of behavior, as well as reward learning. Striatum receives glutamatergic inputs from mainly cortex and thalamus. In rodents, the striatal projection neurons (SPNs), giving rise to the direct and the indirect pathway (dSPNs and iSPNs, respectively), account for 95% of the neurons, and the remaining 5% are GABAergic and cholinergic interneurons.

Aim Biochemistry includes the elaborate study of various biomolecules and intricate mechanisms that first-year medical students find difficult to understand and retain when taught through didactic lectures. Therefore, this study aims to test the effectiveness of jigsaw as a revision module in increasing the knowledge and retention capacity of students in Biochemistry. Materials and methods Eighty students were enrolled in the study.

Background/objectives: Genetic variants in PRSS1 encoding human cationic trypsinogen are associated with hereditary pancreatitis. The clinically frequent variants exert their pathogenic effect by increasing intrapancreatic trypsin activity, while a distinct subset of variants causes disease via mutation-induced trypsinogen misfolding and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. Here, we report a novel misfolding PRSS1 variant.

Apigenin (Api), a flavonoid possessing dual features of antioxidant activity and intramolecular hydrogen bond (IMHB), is subjected to an external electric field (EEF) to investigate its excited-state antioxidant activity after excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) behavior employing the density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TD-DFT) methods, as well as molecular docking. The existence of IMHB is demonstrated by structural parameters and AIM topological analysis, where Api in the enol form under an EEF of +60 × 10 a.u.
