The global priorities in the field of infectious diseases are constantly changing. While emerging viral infections have regularly dominated public health attention, which has only intensified after the COVID-19 pandemic, numerous bacterial diseases have previously caused, and continue to cause, significant morbidity and mortality-deserving equal attention. Three potentially life-threatening endemic bacterial diseases (leptospirosis, melioidosis, and rickettsioses) are a huge public health concern especially in low- and middle-income countries.

Daily rhythms in the activities of PERIOD proteins are critical to the temporal regulation of mammalian physiology. While the molecular partners and genetic circuits that allow PERIOD to effect auto-repression and regulate transcriptional programmes are increasingly well understood, comprehension of the time-resolved mechanisms that allow PERIOD to conduct this daily dance is incomplete. Here, we consider the character and controversies of this central mammalian clock protein with a focus on its intrinsically disordered nature.

Background: Previous guidelines have clearly stated that dance is safe and beneficial during pregnancy and for childbirth. However, due to the small sample size of individual studies and different interventions, there were inconsistencies about the effect of dance on maternal childbirth.
Methods: We included studies evaluating the effect of dance on women in labor.

In recent decades, immunotherapy with chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) has revolutionized cancer treatment and given hope where other cancer therapies have failed. CAR-natural killer (NK) cells are NK cells that have been engineered ex vivo with a CAR on the cell membrane with high specificity for specific target antigens of tumor cells. The impressive results of several studies suggest that CAR-NK cell therapy has significant potential and successful performance in cancer treatment.
