Percutaneous sonography-guided treatment of Dupuytren contracture under liquid immersion. Case reports.

Introduction: Dupuytren's contracture is a fibrotic disorder of the palmar fascia, leading to debilitating finger deformities. Traditional treatments, like open fasciectomy and collagenase injection, carry high risks of complications and recurrence. Ultrasound-guided techniques offer a potentially safer, minimally invasive alternative but are limited by the irregular skin surfaces and flexion deformities in Dupuytren's disease.

Patellar tendinopathy is a common clinical problem, but its underlying pathophysiology remains poorly understood, primarily due to the absence of a representative experimental model. The most widely used method to generate such a model is collagenase injection, although this method possesses limitations. We developed an optimized rat model of patellar tendinopathy via the ultrasound-guided injection of collagenase mixed with a thermo-responsive Pluronic hydrogel into the patellar tendon of sixty male Wistar rats.

A Phase I Clinical Trial to Assess Safety and Tolerability of Injectable Collagenase in Women with Symptomatic Uterine Fibroids.

Reprod Sci

September 2021

Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Division of Reproductive Sciences & Women's Health Research, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, 720 Rutland Avenue, Ross Research Building, Room 624, Baltimore, MD, 21205, USA.

Uterine fibroids feature excessive deposition of types I and III collagen. Previous ex vivo studies showed an FDA-approved collagenase (EN3835)-digested types I and III collagen fibers in fibroid tissues; however, collagenase had not been evaluated in vivo for effects on uterine fibroids. The objective was to assess the safety and tolerability of collagenase injection directly into uterine fibroids.

The objective of this study was to compare the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided injection of collagenase Clostridium histolyticum (CCH) in patients with Dupuytren's contracture (DC), with the standard injection. We hypothesised that the ultrasound-guided Injection of CCH is more effective than the standard injection. A prospective cohorts study in patients with DC was done.
