Invasive fungal infections are common complication in hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients, often leading to high morbidity and mortality rates. Furthermore, when invasive fungal co-infections are diagnosed the prognosis is rarely favorable. Here, we present a rare case of a 47-year-old HIV-negative male with invasive pulmonary co-infection caused by sp. and , complicated by reactivation following second allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation with a fatal outcome. 2012 Elsevier Ltd. Additionally, patients colonized in the gastrointestinal tract with antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB) are at higher risk of infection with ARB and other infections. Cytoplasmic proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) is highly expressed in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells, supporting oxidative metabolism and leukemia stem cell (LSC) growth. We report on AOH1996 (AOH), an oral compound targeting cancer-associated PCNA, which shows significant antileukemic activity. AOH inhibited growth in AML cell lines and primary CD34 + CD38 - blasts (LSC-enriched) in vitro while sparing normal hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs).
