Few studies have been carried out on the Ecuadorian chigger fauna. In this study, we are describing a new species of Eutrombicula from the Galápagos Islands. Also, we provide an updated checklist of Ecuadorian and Galápagos Islands chiggers, including a new host association and locality record for Eutrombicula nerudai Stekolnikov and González-Acuña.

Despite advances in cancer immunotherapy, such as targeting the PD-1/PD-L1 axis, a substantial number of patients harbor tumors that are resistant or relapse. Selective engagement of T-cell co-stimulatory molecules with bispecific antibodies may offer novel therapeutic options by enhancing signal 1-driven activation occurring via T-cell receptor engagement. In this study, we report the development and preclinical characterization of NI-3201, a PD-L1×CD28 bispecific antibody generated on the κλ-body platform that was designed to promote T-cell activity and antitumor function through a dual mechanism of action.

Evidence for beneficial genes being introgressed into or selected for in hybrids raises concurrent questions about its evolutionary significance. In Darwin's tree finches on the island of Floreana (Galapagos Islands, Ecuador), the Critically Endangered medium tree finch () undergoes introgression with the stable small tree finch (), and hybrids regularly backcross with Earlier studies in 2005-2013 documented an increase in the frequency of hybridisation on Floreana using field-based and microsatellite data.

Background The management of neutropenic fever patients remains challenging. Patients' individual baseline body temperature may provide diagnostic and prognostic value. Methods This study is a retrospective analysis of 92 adults admitted for neutropenic fever to model the length of stay (LOS) and the ability to find a definitive diagnosis using the deviation of patients' temperature on admission from their outpatient baseline, acuity on admission, neutropenia level and persistence, fever persistence, and patients' age.

Background: An individual's simple subjective feeling of having poor sleep quality usually occurs in combination with short sleep duration. Previous studies have mainly investigated the association between simple subjective sleep quality and blood pressure in a general population without considering the complicated issue regarding poor sleep quality and short sleep duration. The aim of this study was therefore to investigate whether poor sleep quality was associated with increased blood pressure in individuals with optimal sleep duration.
