Twelve lupanes including three new compounds named alstoscholarilups A-C (1: -3: ) were isolated from the leaves of . Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and ECD calculation. Structurally, compound 1: with a rare A ring-seco skeleton formed lactone and degraded C-3, while 2: with a 28- and 3: with a 29--lupane skeleton supported the phytochemical diversity and novelty of the plant. Pharmacologically, compounds 4, 7: , and 10: reduced the serum uric acid (UA) levels of mice significantly.

Novel anthropometric indices are more closely related to metabolic abnormalities than traditional anthropometric indices. Fewer studies have been conducted based on the relationship between novel anthropometric indicators and hyperuricemia. This study was to analyze the serum uric acid (SUA) levels of adults and the relationship between hyperuricemia and these new indicators in Su-Wuxi-Chang area of China, in order to provide a theoretical basis for the management of SUA levels in patients with hyperuricemia.

Composting organic waste is a sustainable recycling method in agricultural systems, yet the microbial preferences for different substrates and their influence on composting efficiency remain underexplored. Here, 210 datasets of published 16S ribosomal DNA amplicon sequences from straw and manure composts worldwide were analyzed, and a database of 278 bacterial isolates was compiled. Substrate-driven microbiome variations were most prominent during the initial composting stages.

Introduction: This study investigated the efficacy of a digital health solution utilizing smartphone images of colorimetric test-strips for home-based salivary uric acid (sUA) measurement to predict pre-eclampsia (PE), pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR).
Methods: 495 pregnant women were included prospectively at Zealand University Hospital, Denmark. They performed weekly self-tests from mid-pregnancy until delivery and referred these for analysis by a smartphone-app.

Background: Aldehyde is a kind of important environmental pollutant, which has been demonstrated to be associated with increased risks of various chronic diseases with the economic and social development. However, the effects of aldehydes on serum uric acid (SUA) and hyperuricemia remained inexplicit, and the potential mediating pathways for this relationship needed to be addressed.
Methods: This study investigated the associations of individual and mixed aldehydes with SUA and hyperuricemia among 1588 U S.

Background: The present study evaluated the effects of cranberry juice enriched with omega-3 on inflammatory, oxidative stress, and periodontal status in diabetic patients with periodontal disease.
Methods: Forty-one patients with diabetes (35‒67 years old) and periodontal disease were assigned to four groups: C: control (n=12), I1: omega-3 (n=10, 1 g), I2: cranberry juice (n=9, 200 mL), and I3: cranberry juice enriched with omega-3 (n=10, 200 mL, containing 1 g of omega-3) twice daily for 8 weeks. Serum and salivary total antioxidant capacity (TAC), malondialdehyde (MDA), serum uric acid, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), clinical attachment loss (CAL), pocket depth (PD), bleeding on probing (BOP), and plaque index were evaluated in all the subjects before and after the intervention.
