Purpose: To assess the effects of modifying head position and of static ocular counter-rolling (OCR) on abduction and adduction in saccadic eye movements using a head-mounted video-oculographic device.
Study Design: A clinical observational study.
Methods: The peak velocities and amplitude gains of visually guided 12° saccades were binocularly measured in 21 healthy volunteers with their heads in the upright vertical (0°) and horizontal (± 90°, bilateral side-lying) postures, and in 6 participants with their head positions bilaterally tilted by 30°.

Background: The presence of frailty is common in people with Parkinson's disease, as is cognitive dysfunction. Previous research on frailty has focused on the physical aspects of the pathology.
Aims: To analyze the relationship between frailty and cognitive impairment in patients with Parkinson's disease and to know which disease characteristics are associated with frailty.

Background: As humans age, some experience cognitive impairment while others do not. When impairment occurs, it varies in severity across individuals. Translationally relevant models are critical for understanding the neurobiological drivers of this variability, which is essential to uncovering the mechanisms underlying the brain's susceptibility to aging.

Background: Our studies suggest that iron-overloaded rats developed neurotoxicity and cognitive impairment (1,2). An increase in brain mitochondrial fission and brain mitophagy have been considered as one of underlying mechanisms in brain with iron-overloaded condition (3,4). Hence, a pharmacological intervention focused on preventing brain mitochondrial pathologies is required.

Background: We previously identified the novel mechanism of pathological tau transfer via extracellular vesicles (EVs) in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Targeting EV secretion to mitigate tau transfer is therefore a promising therapeutic approach for AD. P2X purinoreceptor 7 (P2RX7), an ATP-gated cationic channel, regulates microvesicle shedding or secretion of multivesicular body-derived exosomes.
