Work in the field of intercultural communication initially assumed negotiations between 'culturally homogeneous' delegations. In the clinical field, it became apparent that 'cultural homogeneity' cannot be assumed, especially in the 'party' of patients or relatives. Thus, the approach of transculturality was developed for the clinical field. The service of (hospital) pastoral care, if it wants to be understood correctly, must subject itself to a transcultural analysis. It is characterized by a constantly changing, individually shaped 'culture'. This proves to be an opportunity in the clinical field.
