The Bigfoot Unity Diabetes Management System, a smart pen cap system cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in May 2021, incorporates continuous glucose monitoring data, real-time glycemic alerts, and clinician-directed dose recommendations. This study analyzed real-world clinical outcomes data for an initial cohort ( = 58, from 13 clinics) managing multiple daily injection insulin therapy using the pen cap system for 6 months. We examined glycemic control, including hypoglycemia events and interaction with and use of the pen cap system. In a cohort mainly consisting of adults with type 2 diabetes and an average age of 62 years, the results demonstrate close adherence to established glycemic targets, including a relatively short amount of time spent in the hypoglycemic range.

Foreign body aspiration (FBA) is a common issue in children, particularly boys, and can be life-threatening. Early removal of the foreign body (FB) leads to recovery, but delayed diagnosis may cause complications such as granuloma, recurrent pneumonia, and atelectasis. This condition often results from a child's curiosity, with factors such as inadequate swallowing reflex and activity during eating contributing to the risk.

To assess the impact and feasibility of a telehealth program using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and a connected insulin pen cap (CIPC) in nursing homes for older adults with insulin-treated diabetes. This multicenter, prospective, sequential, single-arm study consisted of three phases: (1) baseline, blind CGM (); (2) intervention 1, CGM () without alarms; and (3) intervention 2, CGM with alarms for hypo and hyperglycemia. Two telehealth visits from reference diabetes units were conducted to adjust antidiabetic treatments.

Context: The Bigfoot Unity Diabetes Management System integrates Abbott FreeStyle Libre 2 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data into a smart pen cap and mobile app enabling clinician-directed insulin dose recommendations and real-time alerts.

Objective: The objective was to analyze real world 6-month glycemic control in a prospective study for individuals using the System for multiple daily insulin injections (MDI).

Methods: We conducted a 6-month analysis from the BURST study (NCT05088265) of individuals with type 1 or type 2 diabetes (T2D).

In this study, we demonstrated an approach for the development of multiplex immunochromatographic test strip (MICS) for neomycin (NEO), penicillin (PEN), and chloramphenicol (CAP) detection using three different-colored gold nanoparticles. The gold nanoparticles: gold nanospheres (red), gold nanostars (blue), and gold nanoflowers (black) were applied as labels for MICS fabrication. The proposed MICS achieved a clearly visible limit of detection with cut-off values of 500, 5, and 0.
